    Finally Painted!

It's actually custom.  Started off with Grabber Lime, but after shooting some samples, and a few opinions, felt the new Shelby GT500 color was more of what I was looking for.  So, we went through several paint types trying to match.  Unfortunately at the time of painting, Ford did not have the...

    Finally Painted!

Unfortunately, the first shop I took the car to could not finish the job due to the shop closing it's doors.  So, when I eventually found another shop to pick up where this one took off, some of the work had to be re-done.  The job was between 10k and 20k for everything, but that included...

Thanks.  So much for "pull-me-over" red!  I've already started my ticket fund..

    Finally Painted!

Well, I definitely hope it's easier than what it took to get here.  That would be a nice change of pace.

    Finally Painted!

Appreciate that rio1856.  I'm excited to get it on the road.  I'll definitely be adding more as I move forward..may even add some from when I rescued this thing from the boneyard.. Thanks!

    Finally Painted!

The pics of it in the paint booth were right after shooting...so, yeah, there is peel.  This was intentional.  We wanted to lay the base down thick to allow for the paint to be cut after.  The final product has all been cut and is smooth as glass.

    Finally Painted!

Yes - that's the intention.  I will have to remove the hood, but the rest is going to stay put.  I don't know if you have ever gapped a car before, but it will absolutely drive you nuts if you don't know when to cut it off.  shifting panels from side to side, back and forth, etc...I asked my...

Thank you!  Looking forward to getting some more chrome back on it.

    Finally Painted!

Bottom pin stripe is painted.  My painter didn't want anything to do with the pin stripe in the sticker kit.  I was fine with that.  I'm not building this car to win any concours original shows.  Just want it to look like an original.

    Finally Painted!

Yep...no kidding.  I've purchased a bunch of thick felt blankets to cover the car when I'm working on it.  Will have to be very careful for sure.   The hood blackout was done freehand.  I provided a few sketches of some different cars, as well as info from the 7173 cougar megasite and my...

    Finally Painted!

Well, here she is!  Has taken quite a while to get the project to this point, but finally.  This is me loading the car onto the trailer the day we picked it up form my painter (as well as a few shots of the wip).  Still missing the stickers and decals...those will come last.  Oh, and please...

    Park Brake Light

    Hi Dave - any luck?

    Park Brake Light

Hi Dave - yeah I appreciate that if you could look and get a measurement (I'm looking for the diameter for the hole in the dash mores than the light, but I'll take either.  I've been delaying cutting that particular hole in my dash until I get something a little more definitive.  If I can't...

    Park Brake Light

Thanks for the tip.  I think I'll be building myself a custom wiring harness from scratch since my original had a ton of splices in it.  Whoever owned the car before definitely was a hack.  What was the harness for that went to the seats?
