72 Grande Coupe project, starting Fall 2017!

Doors were not as good as I thought. Both had the lock cylinders pried out and messed up the door. The ends at the latches were also cracked and bad. So I bought aftermarket shells. I rebuilt the hinges, and got the doors adjusted decent on the car. Not perfect, but decent enough for a driver. I...

72 Grande Coupe project, starting Fall 2017!

Got the decklid measured and drilled for spoiler. I messed with trying to get the lid aligned but kept having problems with 1 side being higher than the other. I finally ordered a pair of Couger springs, and will be putting them on. Haven't done that yet, will document it when I do.

72 Grande Coupe project, starting Fall 2017!

Well, time to revive this build! Can't believe its been 5 years... Holy cow! I'm not going to bore you with reasons, other than Covid just about took me out, and life happens! I am going to update stuff that I have done, and will hopefully keep updating as the car is in the garage, and barring...

Help me decide... Delete heater system?

Hello, looking for opinions, lol. My 72 Mustang project is back onto my "To do" list. Car is completely apart. Dash assembly is now out, as I am going to upgrade to an American Autowire harness. I also pulled dash structure, as the passenger cowl is rusted out at the heater box like normal...

    Detroit Autorama 2024

We were there, and saw them. Beautiful cars! I was hoping there would be more 71-73's, I was surprised on how many Fox bodies were there. First time going to Autorama, will probably go next year again

    Tires-what could go wrong...

A couple of years ago, my daughter was driving my wife's Chevelle, and had a tire go down, not completely flat but enough to notice the driving since it was on the front. . Limped it to her uncle's house a couple of blocks away, and found the sidewall separated and leaking. Looking at the dates...

Need help with the infamous tilt column rag joint please...

Here are a couple of pics of the 2 lower shafts, 1 tilt and 1 non tilt. They seem to slide into each others column, so I don't see any issues with using a non tilt lower shaft in a tilt column, to eliminate the rag joint issue. I have,'t bolted it into the car yet, but will soon to verify if...

Need help with the infamous tilt column rag joint please...

I am the Earl Lewis from the Facebook post :) Yes, I bought a tilt column, to replace the standard column. I ran into the problem with the rag joint, and wondered about changing the lower shaft. I was able to remove both shafts, and swap them between the columns. I have not bolted it into the...

Most wonderful time of the year - for mice

I've had good luck with a combo of fabric softener sheets, Irish Spring soap, and peppermint oil on cotton balls. I use all 3, and so far so good

WTB - Tilt Column for 71

I could still use one, if you are asking because there is one available? Since I still haven't found a good used or new aftermarket bolt in one, lol. ;)

Company looking for plastic front bumper as tester to possibly start making!

I was surfing, and found a Mustang II website that makes bumpers and stuff for them. I sent them a message telling them about the 71-73 Mustangs, how they came chrome or plastic, and while chrome are made but the plastic are not. He sent back that he would be interested in getting ahold of a...

Body panel assembly order and adjustments?

I am finally getting back on my project! No, really, this time I swear!! lol  Been about 4 years since I tore it all apart.  I have all the bolt-on panels off. The basic body, I changed a quarter panel, patched the floor, and am about to paint the shell in primer, then color.  I am assuming it...

Odd question for the "Bigger" guys here

Thanks for the replies! I decided to try the suspenders route. I got some good ones, and have worn them a couple of days. Not as bad as I had thought. I think mostly it was a mental thing, where I didn't want to be one of those old guys wearing them, lol. But so far, so good. I have also been...

Odd question for the "Bigger" guys here

We buy junk cars and scrap metals of all kinds. We also sell parts. We mainly have cars from the mid 2000's back. We have a few older cars, at one point about 200 or so from the 30's-70's, but have been slowly crushing them (As much as I hate that!) But only 1 72 Mustang, or what's left of it...

Odd question for the "Bigger" guys here

I know this is the page for off topic, boy do I have an "Off topic" question, lol! I am a big guy... 6 foot 7, and north of 300#, so I have a belly!  I am 53 years old, and have always worn my belt at around the bellybutton. I have always had trouble with my pants wanting to fall down, and...

72 Grande Coupe project, starting Fall 2017!

I didn't see any cowl rust, but will look again closer when I get back on it. That is a good idea on having the door on. I thought about putting it back on, but with the fenders off too I wasn't sure how to get the door in the right position without putting the whole front back together.  This...

72 Grande Coupe project, starting Fall 2017!

I just used a body saw, like a jigsaw almost. By overlapping and cutting, I wasn't worried about cutting straight since it was all being welded.  I believe where you are talking about the lower piece, I used an air punch to make holes in the skin, to plug weld thru to the old metal. Everything...

72 Grande Coupe project, starting Fall 2017!

This is about how it sits right now in storage.  I will be working on getting the motor while finishing a couple of projects, then the car comes back. As of now, I want to get the motor and trans in, and hook everything up. I want to get it ready to run and move. I have headers for it, once...
