    cudak888: 1971 M-code "Soylent Green" - 2024: Help me measure the frame!

That’s a mighty fine compliment coming from the master himself - thank you! It’s closing in on about $350 in materials, but I’ll always be able to re-use it in future. Also really not bad to store either. The next piece of the puzzle has since arrived - the M5 to M8 step up adapters. The...

    cudak888: 1971 M-code "Soylent Green" - 2024: Help me measure the frame!

Halfway there. I assembled the T-slot today and played around with the positioning under the car. Before setting up any T-slot, I first did a check to see just how level the car is. I used one 1500mm section across the width of the car with two 5.9" (150mm) T-slot sections as uprights. These...

    cudak888: 1971 M-code "Soylent Green" - 2024: Help me measure the frame!

Will keep that in mind. The connectors for the T-track arrived today, so I can finally get around to measuring next weekend (if it doesn't pour buckets again). -Kurt

    cudak888: 1971 M-code "Soylent Green" - 2024: Help me measure the frame!

@Qcode351mach - any ideas on that framerail height issue in the drawings? In other news, the 20mm T-track arrived, but the bolts aren't getting here until Monday. More waiting! I also ordered some small screw-type stands to support the T-track on: -Kurt

    Consumer Guide Article 71-73 Mustangs

Sorry to bump this up, but does anyone still have a working link to these scans? I'm doing a bit of research relating to the '71s designer(s) and another thread here suggested it might be a reasonably good source. -Kurt

    cudak888: 1971 M-code "Soylent Green" - 2024: Help me measure the frame!

It already is very close to level front to back per a laser level checked at the framerails, but only to the point of accuracy where I'm reasonably sure the unibody isn't twisting across from corner to corner. It is not to a point of accuracy I'm comfortable enough assuming the rear framerails...

    cudak888: 1971 M-code "Soylent Green" - 2024: Help me measure the frame!

FYI, the Amazon el-cheapo tram gauge - unsurprisingly - turned out to be a piece of junk. Shouldn't even exist. I'm going to try to replicate your setup using T-slot. Should be a nice way to keep it square and accurate while also having some nice T-slot left over when I'm done. -Kurt

P.S.: Thank you, @ib4stangs for the framerail! Pics are from before he packed it up - hoping to start preliminary jiggling and fitment over the weekend. -Kurt

    cudak888: 1971 M-code "Soylent Green" - 2024: Help me measure the frame!

I remember a 4R70W; can't recall the 351C. Smart move lightening up the front end with the midblock - still more than enough power. Not everyone might want to admit it, but any of our first-gens - the so-called "big" 71-73's too - are lightweight little tin can farts in comparison to the...

    cudak888: 1971 M-code "Soylent Green" - 2024: Help me measure the frame!

Hey Q! I checked to see if you'd posted after I disappeared around here; glad to see you're around and kicking. I remember the green 429; how's it been treating you? I remember you shared that spec sheet long ago with me - what I didn't realize until now is that the rear framerail measurements...

    cudak888: 1971 M-code "Soylent Green" - 2024: Help me measure the frame!

Thank you, gentlemen! Anyway, thought I'd give a quick update: To make things easier, I put the car up on jackstands and pulled the rear end out. I figured this would be a good opportunity to replace the leaky pinion seal in the process, along with the rest of the rear end seals. It also...

    cudak888: 1971 M-code "Soylent Green" - 2024: Help me measure the frame!

It seems as if the server crash and restoration from a few days ago took out some of the photo updates, so I'll get that re-done soon. At any rate, hello all - glad to be back from the dead. After 10 years, I'm getting back to Soylent again, and I'm picking up at a problem I came to grips with...

Parts Wanted [GOT IT!] Wanted: Small 3" section of rear framerail

It's good to be back! It so happens I am working on this - the spiritual successor to that thread: No promises though; I have a recurring bad habit of letting videos sit a good two or three years over one impossible scene or another. Also, I'd like to make 100% sure I can get myself through...

Parts Wanted [GOT IT!] Wanted: Small 3" section of rear framerail

Hello all! I'm back to working on Solyent Green, my '71 Mach (it's only been ~10 years, eh?) and I'm dealing with a small warp in the rear framerail. Yes, I somewhat was in denial about that until it became clear the RH framerail was 3mm shorter than the left at the hanger mount I stopped and...

Foxbody (5.0) engine mount distance question (for owners w/o engines or bare K-frames)

Title more or less alludes to what I'm after, but here's the full scoop: I'm looking to getting into a ridiculously obscure project that may involve an LS swap (or the "World's Most Boring Engine Swap That Need Not Be Named™" if you prefer), and - as odd as this may sound - I don't think anyone...

    4-leaf springs - 250lb rate?

Pretty much adds up then. Decided to pass on those springs, even though I think "250lb" was more of a convenient number that the seller pulled out of his butt than anything else... -Kurt
