    Leaking Tranny Fluid

This piece of anecdotal evidence might help someone else out. 1. Observed tranny fluid on the floor. Only leaked while sitting, it seemed. Odd, since the tranny gasket was new. Tightened bolts a bit. Still leaked. 2. Changed out filter and gasket with a cork version, official Ford unit. Made...

    vendor choices

Add my vote for Don at Ohio Mustang for all of the before-mentioned reasons. In addition, Don knows these particular Mustangs himself, based upon personal experience. He is no arm chair General. And, he'll go the 2nd mile. The difference between contacting Don for help vs. going to the large...

    Transmission Gaskets for C-6

Thank you for the response and accompanying data with part numbers. Very helpful. Found exactly what I needed--Ford parts, gasket, filter and filter gasket as well with no shipping charges, and even cheaper that the rubber based gaskets at the local parts story. Appreciate your help. Here's a...

    Transmission Gaskets for C-6

My C-6 transmission, mated to a 429 SCJ, was completely rebuilt and its pan was sealed with a rubber based gasket. But it leaks, despite attempts to tighten the bolts. Anyone else experience the same type of leaking with rubber based?  And where can I locate a cork-based gasket? My local auto...

Wondering if there is a specific temp. sending unit for the 1971 S29 SCJ. And, if so, who carries them? Thanks, Tim

    1971 J-code Mach 1 project in DE

Perhaps my two cents might provide anecdotal evidence as to what lies ahead in a complete restoration.  Four--Five years ago (2015), I bought a 1971 Grabber Blue J Code, 429 SCJ, that had been off the road since 1975.  The first picture shows the beginning of the tear down. The 2nd and 3rd...

    Dang...

Hope no one was hurt or banged. Car can be fixed, though it is a bummer for it to happen. Was the truck driver cited?

Spacer between head and PS Pump bracket

For all of you who own a big block 429, I need to know the length of the spacer that fits in between the cylinder head and the Power Steering Pump bracket. Thank you.

    Finally Painted!

Very nice paint job. Is the color Bright Lime (72) or Grabber Lime (71)?

    PS Bracket 429 SCJ

My search for the PS Pump bracket is over with.  TommyK had what I needed from a prior 460 set up in his pile of parts and now is on its way to me.  Thanks for all the help and input and thanks to TommyK! Have a blessed thanksgiving.

    Electrical line from fuel tank

Thank you for that clarification. Wondered why the rubber plugs had three prongs, but the sending unit itself only had two prongs. Now I know. Thanks again.

    Electrical line from fuel tank

The top photo came from the 429 Megasite, most likely a 429 CJ Mach 1.  The bottom photo is of my Mach 1, 429 SCJ, two prong.

    Electrical line from fuel tank

Thank you, Don. I have a Mach 1 wiring harness with this plug; but the plug is three-pronged, not two pronged as the picture of my tank reveals. How many prongs does your have? Thanks, Tim

    Electrical line from fuel tank

Where specifically does the electrical wiring, starting from the rubber grommet plugged into the fuel tank, actually feed into (via another grommet) the chassis and then hook up with the wiring harness? Where is the opening located on a 1971 Mach 1? Thanks.

    PS Bracket 429 SCJ

The bracket for the 429 CJ or SCJ is indeed different than the unit for the 351 motor. Here is the way it is supposed to look.
