Saying good-bye to a old hero of a little car

Great story, kind of sad seeing it parked in front of the salvage yard, you should have warned us sensitive types about that picture.

the gift that keeps on giving: Part 3

Great information, from my personal experience, I would add avoid Petronix Ignitor II, or Ignitor III and just go with the simple Ignitor if switching over, especially if you have a tach.

    Anyone own a conversion van?

I'm betting it'll be a smooth trip but if you do break down, you'll be comfortable while waiting for the tow truck.

To blow a tire, the impact had to be pretty hard, hope they do right by you.

    Cool Desert Nights

Yep, meant Saturday 27th! It's very gracious of you to over a place to stay, I'll have to discuss with the wife, she belongs to a hiking club and has one planned for that Sunday morning, which means we would need to head back after the show on Saturday...unless I can talk her out of skipping...

    Cool Desert Nights

John, will try and make it up for the show and shine on the 29th, all depends if the car is back together by then. A leaking rear end pinion seal revealed other issues once tore down that needed to be replaced plus putting in 3.5 gears while it's open. Should be completed by then but I...

    2016 Ford Focus RS Mk3

Now that the RS Mk3 are finally available in America, watch for Subaru STI sales to drop off. For the price, both are pocket rockets.

84 year old Shatner to cross country in trike

William Shatner is heading across the country this summer, but this trip is a bit more Easy Rider than Star Trek. Originally announced earlier this year, a date is finally set for the original Captain Kirk to be like a rocket man on the open road on his Rivet art deco trike.   Boasting an...

Are 71-73's fullsize or midsize cars?

Very true, in Europe if the parking space indicates it's for a compact, they mean a mini. I would still consider our 71-73 a midsized car, the design just makes it look bigger than it is.

    Railroad fans?

Very cool, thanks for passing it on. Most train stations appear to have this "permanence" about them with the liberal use of stone, brick and concrete. We're planning a wine tasting weekend in that area to stock up on the local wines, I'll put the Museum on our stop list.

    1971 "Boss"

It's a nice looking car but there still plenty that's unfinished. The glove box photo shows lots of water damage which tells me to be weary of the claim that there is no rust. Plus it's a non functioning Ram-Air, the required vacuum lines are missing. As pointed out wrong color for breather...

    Question about 1971 engine codes

The primary thing would to be insure the car was super clean when stored, free of all debris, it looks like that one was parked with some road salt still on the undercarriage. Not sure about the plastic part, I think it would make matters worse by holding in condensation. So did you make an...

Adjusting shift points on a C6

Chuck, you have me pegged! Why put it back together unless it's what I really want. Never let a need for a repair go to waste. Pat, thanks, that looks like a way for me to go so I can get it back on the road. I thought about repairing them but both axels have scarring and groves around...

Got a new rear end to play with.

That's interesting, just today I'm looking at switching over from a 3.0:1 to a 3.5 while the rear end is apart to repair leaks, I considered a 3.8. I haven't ordered the 3.5 parts, so what are the preferences of others, 3.5 verses 3.8?

Adjusting shift points on a C6

OK Capitol Driveshaft is taking care of the driveshaft for $292.00, should be done first of next week but today I found out I need to replace both Axels. Both axel bearings were spun which scarred the axels. Plus who ever changed the last bearings cut into the axel on one of the axels. Bottom...

For some reason that car seems to be calling out to me.

Found out some interesting background on my Mach1

Yep, there were lots of people including receptionists, secretaries, etc that were overnight millionaires. I didn't find any money in it but I did find an old Microsoft parking pass when I removed the dash to repair it. Rebooting seems to be the standard first step for any problem.
