It appears the vacuum line on the right front of the base of your carburetor is routed to possibly an open end on the air cleaner base. Can't tell without lifting the air cleaner. Also it looks like that carburetor has experienced some backfires, resulting in the sooty black appearance.

How much was the block bored oversize? Did you have it sonic checked as well for cylinder wall thickness?

Your 3rd member needs to be gone thru and rebuilt. New bearings, probably new pinion gears and shaft, etc. Possibly a new ring and pinion if too much wear is noted. Might be worth considering ordering a new assembly.

Glad you made it out OK and are doing well. From what I see, that car is repairable. Get a donor coupe with a roof and do a transplant. Or do a swap over to another donor body.

Headlight switch has a rheostat on it to adjust the instrument light brightness. Possibly dirty contact or spring on the rheostat . Might need a new headlight switch.

I have a 73 Mach 1 with avocado plain interior and I believe I have the short consolette also. Let me know if you're interested.

Possibly timing also. Next time if it happens, to confirm it's timing, disconnect the power wire to the coil, or the wire from coil to distributor and see if engine turns over normally. If so, timing is too far advanced and needs to be retarded a few degrees for initial timing.

Smear a little dab of permatex around the tube end and push it home.

I've heard that you need to do that when you replace rod bolts with ARP hardware, to cut and hone the rod caps, but not with mains when you add studs because of the metal thickness.

That looks to be a 2 barrel intake with that port size mismatch on the gaskets, FYI.

The egr valve diagram is bad, not holding vacuum when you apply it. The valve closes off the port between the intake and exhaust. If the valve is stuck open, it can cause an intake vacuum leak.
