    New cam for my 408.

I too am a believer in people who specialize in camshafts and valvetrain. Off the shelf camshafts rarely optimize a combination of parts, especially ones where a Cleveland engine is concerned. My go-to company is http://www.flowtechinduction.com/ford-2/. I have used them with several of my...

    429 CJ block

There are letter scratch markings on other high performance Ford block castings as well. I know many of the 428CJ blocks have C or A scratch letters in the bellhousing area. As to what they mean is anyone's guess. It's just one of those things that some feel is an easy identifier for original...

    What rims?

Some Chinese Weld Draglite knockoff wheels. Weld wheels are stamped on the hub with the company logo, manufacture date and "not for street use".

    Blow-by

Guessing you changed the oil, right?

How do you get an engine running like this?

Blower surge is the term for it. Not uncommon in engines of this type. Can be fixed with tuning tricks but for it's intended purpose(strip), many don't bother as it's usually considered par for the course.

    Aluminum Cylinder Heads identification

Good to hear.  They will also tell you when they were cast if you ask. Check the valve guides.  The pair by buddy had had the worst guides I've ever seen.  They are known for wearing quickly.  Amazing it didn't drop a valve.

    What is this hole?

It's not for oil drainage. It's to promote proper crankcase ventilation.

    '73 motor mounts on a 302 f/b

The pair I have do not have any numbers on them. All they have is a big "L" and a big "R".

    Fuel system replacement - 71 Mach 1

For reference.  Here is a picture of my original sender, on my new gas tank about a year ago.  1973 351c car. D1ZF-9275AB  Picture taken on the left side of the car.

    Aluminum Cylinder Heads identification

They look like TFS heads. I had a set just like it to repair about two years ago. Email their customer support and give them the numbers and they can tell you the build date and cc of the intake runners. Likely some 170's.

    Temporary cam?

Most lumpy cams might require adjustable rocker arms and heavier valve springs so it might make things more complicated and expensive than you think. If you know it's temporary, stick with something stockish or things might snowball. If you are willing to take the plunge, then I'd just try a...

    Gas Tank sending unit

Has it been inaccurate from day one? I have found with many aftermarket sender units that the plastic float absorbs fuel after a while causing its buoyancy to decrease. The float sinks essentially during different conditions. Every time I replace a sender I always try to reuse or find a brass...

    Looking for "PARK" warning light

I have one but it's pretty scabby. It will fill the hole in the dash though.

Comp Cams Hydraulic Roller Conversion question

FWIW I don't like using reduced base circle roller cams. The lobe profiles are a compromise from the start. The one I had in the past from Crane always had valvetrain noise no matter what. Random rpm's, random temperatures, random engine loads it would tick. The spring rates are higher than...
