The one sold by NPD shows compatible for 67 - 73 Cougar but not Mustang. Another company sells the same thing but shipping is approximately $10 to $13 for a $3 to $4 item. I have looked on line but haven’t found a gas cap replacement for my 71 Mach 1. It is the flip open type attached pics. Any ideas?

Yes, for all I know they may be original. Replacement is probably what I need. I think I can find the rods but need to buy a tool. I think I may just prop it up. Thanks for the comments.

Oh, my torsion rod is connected to first notch closest to rear of car/trunk opening. I added a couple pics of how mine are attached. Don’t know if you can see them.

My trunk lid on my 71 Mach1 with spoiler will nit stay open. I looked and it is on the 3rd notch already. The only time I would like it to stay open is at the Charity car shows. Is there a way to keep open without replacing the torsion bars? From what I have seen it is not an easy task.

Does it hurt or help if I removed the plastic covers on my 1971 Mach1 hood scopes and replaced with screen mesh? I tried searching but could not find this question asked before.

Thank you, the problem was vacuum, rubber hose back of carburetor was not connected. Seemed to be worn out was not tight and came loose. Going to buy a new one.

I plan on replacing soon. I do not recall a backfire, I did hear something when I started it.
