    Tach and 3 wire

That's awful that someone tried to reverse engineer your work - it really just shows how pervasive greed is in the world. I've also got the RCCI (Rocketman's Classic Cougar Innovations) modified tach in my '71. I ran without a tach for many years (almost 10 years, actually) until I realized...

    Power steering cooler necessary?

I discovered that when my car was carbureted, I had an MSD 6AL box mounted in front of the driver side shock tower. It was also iso-mounted using some nice rubber isolators. I have a small TruCool 12 row stacked plate oil cooler that was collecting dust, waiting for another project - it fits...

    Nice rack

You know that you can pickup a reman rack out of a '93 Cobra for around $100. I wouldn't even bother with a used one, they wear out pretty quick and need to be replaced pretty often.

    Coilover Suspension

Looks nice. Seen and performed a few coilover conversions on Fox Mustangs since they have the modified MacPherson strut front suspension which really sucks in a slalom, but never found a real need for it on a '71-73. The camber angle stays reasonably consistent throughout the suspension travel...

    Nice rack

My '71 is an abused machine with multiples crashes under its belt. It got so bad I had to fab totally new crossmembers and reinforcements over time. After rebuilding the suspension and steering however, I find the steering to be tight, very accurate, and leaves little to be desired in terms of...

Help with stepping up to 17" wheels

I know there's a few people running 315s on this forum. I would love to see some photos. I also had another thought: I believe 335-35-17 will also fit!

    Oil pressure wavering

Hey, I see about 10 psi at low idle in my Bronco's 400M... but it seems to run great. Even at 3000 RPM I don't think I see any more than about 40 psi when it's hot! That being said, when it was fresh it never read below 40 psi at idle and running it was always around 50-60 psi. I've obviously...

    Oil pressure wavering

50-60 psi at idle is pretty high for a warmed up motor with hot oil flowing through it. I wouldn't be worried about that level of pressure one bit, though. If you could trust the gauge completely, it could be an indication of excessive oil clearance in a bearing somewhere. Time will tell...

    Quick proven clevo recipe

The cage was custom fabricated by CC Racing in Vancouver, BC. The speed rating of the tire generally also means a softer compound, so that's why I was saying it should hook up better. I had a set of Kumho Ecsta SPT (not even a full on Z-rated summer tire) on my blown 5.0 Mustang and those...

    Quick proven clevo recipe

I have a relocated battery (in the trunk) and some pretty wide tires (295-50-15, soon to be 315-35-17) and I still roast the 295s because they're BFG Radial T/As. I'm currently debating whether I can afford a set of Kumho Ecsta XS in 315, but the Nitto 555 and Sumitomo HTR Z are almost $150...

    Quick proven clevo recipe

Haha yes, my screen name is Shaker666 on many other forums, including the Corral, FSB, EECTuning, etc. As far as pistons go, I believe they are Badger/Dynalite cast slugs 0.030" over. I used good quality Speed Pro plasma moly rings. The lower intake is a ported GT40 for a 351W fitted to the...

    Power steering cooler necessary?

Gonna mount a small fluid cooler in front of the driver side shock tower.

Neat Ford 351C 4-V Marketing Manual

All I know is I'm squeezing out quite a lot of power and torque with the 400 in my old Bronco and with fuel injection it passes the sniffer cleaner than the old stocker ever did.

    Power steering cooler necessary?

So basically, I should really add one back in. Ugh... I hate fabricating brackets. I'm a computer engineer and I really suck at making nice looking brackets because I don't do enough mechanical design.

    Power steering cooler necessary?

I vaguely recall seeing a power steering fluid cooler installed on my car when it was "stock." It was a factory Ford piece, but I've not seen it decades since installing a wheezer. Is it absolutely necessary to run a fluid cooler here or not?

    Quick proven clevo recipe

I've had very good luck with the 400M in my '79 Bronco. I performed a stock rebuild in 2000 using Federal Mogul main and rod bearings, upgraded the rods with ARP bolts and polished the beams. I would certainly not hesitate to drop one of these engines into a Mustang, particularly if I were...

Neat Ford 351C 4-V Marketing Manual

Wow, loved reading that! Really makes me regret having sunk all that coin into my 408 wheezer... I have a '71 351CJ sitting on the shop floor collecting dust.

    High Torque Starter for 351W/C6

I use a Powermaster hi-torque unit and don't have any issues with my 408 at 10.2:1. If it's not starting well when it's hot it might be a bad electrical connection exhibiting inhibited current flow caused by the additional electrical resistance when the wires get hot.

Help with stepping up to 17" wheels

Yes, I've read practically all the threads on this site about 17" and 18" wheel fitment. However, after doing some measuring this morning I realized that I can run a 6.5" backspace and still clear all of my suspension while keeping the rear tire inside the quarter wheel well. For that reason...

Help with stepping up to 17" wheels

I don't think I was going for cheap in this case. Considering how much money I've put into my car at this point, a $250 tire is a drop in the bucket. Interestingly enough, Sumitomo offers tires in this size for about $150 each. I did some investigation and it appears that there are several...
