Mister 4X4 is right on the money. Aftermarket isn't doing them for us (yet) and buying one without inspecting it carefully is risky.

Fantastic thread. I've got a used 4r70w I'm thinking of putting in the 71, probably with a Baumann controller. Plenty of work to do before I get to that, though.

Glad to have found this site as my son and I get ready to put my 71 convertible back into shape. I've owned it since '84, but after some hail and mice, it has been neglected for the last 10 years and is going to need some serious tlc to get her back into her former glory. I'm sure I'll be asking...
