Parts Wanted Looking for a Weiand X-Celerator (351C-4V)

Mine must be earlier. I do like the taper of the port filler just below the carb to smooth out the air flow. They sell spacers for that taper.

That would be the one with the clover leaf carb mounting pad?

Parts Wanted Looking for a Weiand X-Celerator (351C-4V)

As I said earlier, the Ford intake is the best bang for the buck. I sold a D1ZX aluminum manifold to a gentleman in Italy a while back. I have the Torker and Blue Thunder. If you search on this site there are those who have modified the filter can of the air cleaner assy. and have provided...

    Strange problem close to overheating

Yes, the 85 mph speedo sucked. I want to know that my speedos can handle 85 mph without losing them at that speed. o_O🤣

Parts Wanted Looking for a Weiand X-Celerator (351C-4V)

In '96 I bought my '71 M code. It had an Accelerator on it and it didn't perform worth a hoot below 3200 rpm. Those engines were like switches and those large ports didn't help low rpm vacuum signal and torque even with the little CJ cam. There was a Superford intake test back in the '90's that...

    Strange problem close to overheating

That '77 was a beautiful body style. It was a boat at 4750# but great on long cruises and the 429 I later transplanted avoided several opportunities for speeding tickets. I installed a 140 mph certified speedo from a '79 LTD II police car but don't recall ever pushing it that hard. And in '88 or...

Brought my parents 71 home for good.

I'm thinking he should take them to dinner two or three times a week for the next 25 years!

    Strange problem close to overheating

You are lucky you found it in time. I recall a time when my sister was going to MTI in Indy and they replaced a belt on her '77 Bird. They put the fan on backwards and she drove it home 170 miles. I saw what was wrong right off. Dad and I went to the junk yard and found a couple of heads, hers...

    3.5 diff gears and a/c

If over driving the compressor is the only issue, one could put an underdrive crank pulley on it to slow the accessories down.

71 Mach 1 paint color choice help

Don't be too hard on your "blue glow"! I bought mine in '76 and LOVE the color. Mine didn't have a lot of extras. Blue Mach interior and tach. No rear fold down, no front or rear spoiler, 14x7's with rings and caps, Q code and C6. They are beautiful cars. I do like the stripes on my '71 a little...

How original is this engine bay?

The air cleaner on the 351C had a seal mounting flange that was offset towards the front of the main body to center the seal in the hood due to the 351C shorter length. The 429 seal mounting flange would have been centered on the air cleaner body. I can't tell for sure from your photo but this...

How original is this engine bay?

This may be an original air cleaner body but it is not the original snorkel.

    Stall converter

Your cam spec card indicates you can stay with the 2400 according to the previous article. I have a '73 CJ with the 10" factory converter and I hate the fact that I have to rev the engine to that rpm to get real movement. It kills the mileage too. Ford did that in '73 because the compression was...

    Help needed with more problems!!

I filled my '77 F150 with diesel once without realizing it and drove it home. I didn't get far. Maybe two blocks. The engine started rattling from detonation. It was a 351M so it was low compression and a two bbl. I siphoned it all out after getting home and refilled it with REAL gasoline. The...

Looking for alternative ram air plenum seal

Acceleration without load is not going to transmit the torque of the engine through the motor mounts as much as actually having it in gear and the engine actually working against the weight of the car. Or, you could put a tire between your front bumper and a tree and try to push the tree over.😁...

Interesting overview of the Cleveland oiling system

Never had a Red Bull but if it works!!!!!!! I think most of the "Build your 351C" books address metering through drilled allen plugs and I've seen at least one route an auxiliary oil line from the rear outlet at the pressure sensor and running it back in the block.

Interesting overview of the Cleveland oiling system

Sometimes "INTERESTING" is killed by the delivery. Can someone replicate this with an energetic speaker that can keep my attention so I don't fall asleep? I just couldn't deal with his rambling. I could read a book on this subject and be more enthused. The oiling discussion has been around for...

    70 351c 4v camshaft selection

Thanks for the info. I wondered about a dual plane with a TBI. I didn't think it would make that much difference since the TBI is electronicly controlled but I'm guessing it has MAP monitoring too? With a carb the vacuum signal is VERY important for the idle, transition slot, and even secondary...

    70 351c 4v camshaft selection

I like the cam! Put that Blue Thunder dual plane on it and you should have a screamer. The dual plane will help your throttle tip in and vacuum signal to your carb at part throttle.

    70 351c 4v camshaft selection

Yes I do. It resides next to my reading chair. The test was a rather high compression stroked 351c with a radical camshaft, but I loved the results they posted. I can't wait to get back into my '73 and put my FPP intake on mine. I'll see what I can put together. Snapshots from the phone are much...
