Malwood clutch master with Hydramax hydraulic release bearing? Will it work

I got a call back from Cherie who says it will work, so I ordered it. Fingers crossed.

Malwood clutch master with Hydramax hydraulic release bearing? Will it work

I did and waiting for call back. IT would still make me feel warm and fuzzy if I talking to someone who has actually made it work!

Malwood clutch master with Hydramax hydraulic release bearing? Will it work

It was an automatic and we put in the Scott Drake kit for the bearings. Argh. Sounds like that means more work.

Malwood clutch master with Hydramax hydraulic release bearing? Will it work

We put a kit in with the Hydramax hydraulic clutch system. The master has failed. The linkage arrangement was quite difficult to set up and there is certainly the possibility that we did it wrong. The linkage from the pedal to the master is awkward in my view. After buying it, we became aware...

    Malwood under dash clutch kit

How is the Malwood working now? The one I got that mounts on the firewall was a PITA to install and very difficult to adjust the linkage. We obviously got something wrong and it failed at about 4,000 miles. We are considering getting the Malwood if it will work with the installed throw out. If...

What other hobbies do you have?

There is a trend in car parts delivery of having cameras watch the drivers as well as all 4 quarters of the cars. One guy I worked with changed jobs because of nitpicking. I had to lift up to 60 pounds as a condition of employment. Many of the garages I delivered to were basically rude and...

What other hobbies do you have?

Wow, lots of gun guys here! I shoot, read history, had to go back to work 3 days a week, alas, seeing the economic handwriting on the wall. The first job was delivering car parts to shops. You really don't want to know the markups on this stuff. I got an offer to work at a range I had been...

    I would gladly take one.

A good read on motor oil

And when I went back to order some, only 20w-50. Either I misread or it went away. Argh.

A good read on motor oil

It is on Amazon US in 10W-40 and 20w-50.

    Converting to manual trans

How did the transmission mount work out from Modern Driveline? I got the kit from a competitor and had to spend a bunch of time under the car with an angle grinder so I could get the exhaust routed. The exhaust was the NPD dual sold one that is supposed to be a match for the OEM dual exhaust...

Some fuddlement fixed, onto the next two, start position not working, right turn signal not working

Ah ha, in between hurricane preps and hurricane demob, I had time to mess with the ignition switch side of that connector. The harness I bought was indeed wrong and jumpered the wrong terminals on the connector. Thanks to the info provided and using the now unneeded FMX shifter to confirm it, I...

Some fuddlement fixed, onto the next two, start position not working, right turn signal not working

Thanks, that end actually came with the transmission. I think the issue I have is the harness I bought to connect it to the car via the car's harness is really intended for a later car than a 1st Gen, so they jumped the wires differently. That's my theory, anyway. Assuming I don't have to work...

Some fuddlement fixed, onto the next two, start position not working, right turn signal not working

Thanks! That would be the red/blue wires on the harness in the car, correct? I think the harness I bought has the colors correct, but it jumping the wrong two terminals, hence the backup lights coming on all the time when the ignition is switched on. The T5 has a has a reverse light switch...

Some fuddlement fixed, onto the next two, start position not working, right turn signal not working

I found this harness at NPD which appears to have the jumpered connectors on the opposite side of the one I have. If this one is correct for the backup lights and the jumper allows current to flow to the solenoid, then I can mod the one I have and two problems down, just need to get the right...

Some fuddlement fixed, onto the next two, start position not working, right turn signal not working

That's pretty much what I am trying to do, figure out which wires on the connector in the car do what. One wire must pass 12 volts to the back up lights when the circuit is completed to the lights. Another must pass 12 volts to the starter solenoid. Probably the one that is hot when the ignition...

Some fuddlement fixed, onto the next two, start position not working, right turn signal not working

In a cunning stroke, I took the automatic shifter and reconnected it to the two connections in the car and VOILA, it starts. There are two connectors on the shifter harness and the black does the job of enabling start while in park. The black one makes four connections. This connector is also...

Some fuddlement fixed, onto the next two, start position not working, right turn signal not working

Just occurred to me, is there a circuit that is closed when the now replaced automatic transmission was with a manual was in park and if that circuit is not closed, the engine is not allowed to start? If so, suggestions to defeat it would be welcome. I presume it might be on the part of the...

Some fuddlement fixed, onto the next two, start position not working, right turn signal not working

Thanks to Hemikiller, Kilgon, CV-72 and some others, we got some items working again by fixing the grounds. We still have two electrical issues going. The start position on the ignition switch, or perhaps I should say ignition cylinder, does not engage the solenoid when turned to start. No power...

Is it only me? New parts that are defective right out of the box.

One of the most frightening things about all of this is the mark up on car parts. It sometimes exceeds 400% from the cost of the shop to list which is what some shops charge.
