Video: Tom Nelson reveals the details of the Shelby Code Red engine
We got our first look at Shelby’s one-off “Code Red” GT500 back in November. The Code Red features 14-inch Baer brakes, Eibach adjustable suspension, 9-inch Currie rear end, 20-inch Alcoa wheels and a custom vented hood, but those are just minor details compared to what’s under the hood. Designed and constructed by Tom Nelson of Nelson Racing engines, the 5.4L V8 has been completely redone with a pair of twin 61mm Turbonetics turbochargers, custom intake manifold, twin fuel system with both pump and race gas and an electronic boost controller.
