Some people should not be allowed to drive!
Son was parked at Chik-fil-a. Guy comes in and said he hit the Mustang. Turns out he has a lifted super cab F250 and cut the corner short and caught the front of the Mustang. We are being very adamant with him that this is irreplaceable damage. Yes, we...
Haven't really done much but drive it around and shake out any minor running issues. The biggest issue is chasing down the electrical for the lights, signals, and marker lights. Most work, then stop working. Frustrating as we are sure it is related to poor grounding of the receptacles (which are...
Another update: Car runs great. Still trying to get the alignment a little better. If you saw the video, had to remove the front springs and cut them. One side was slightly longer than the other. This is why the car sat crooked when looking from the back. Installed new rear leaf springs just to...
Finally. Got the transmission fixed and drove the true maiden voyage. Runs great, drives fast, and doesn't even seem the alignment is off (very straight driver). Son putting together the video update with the burn off. The car is very loud as it is straight pipe coming out just in front of the...
That rear glass looks really flat! I thought our fastbacks were hard to see out of. Maybe if they though of putting glass in the rear tail panel... Wait Pontiac did that in the Aztec, ugly!!!
My two cents:
1) Timing chain worn and stretched causes this symptom while you drive but runs fine in idle condition.
2) Harmonic balancer slipped and the timing you indicate is not accurate.
3) Worn distributor shaft/gear. This causes the Pertronix to see erratic lobes on its pickup.
Update. Been a while since last post.
1) the car now has all the glass in it.
2) Got the terminator X control system installed.
3) Finished the fuel system.
4) Wired all the lights and PS system.
5) Car fired up and runs good (very loud as it is straight pipes).
6) Maiden voyage, got to work out...
Interesting story, I recently started looking for a car that is super nice original or well restored, but not a show queen as I want to drive it. Visited several sites and looked at several examples. One in particular I was super interested in, 1972 Lemans GT (I know it is a Pontiac and not a...
It is not only you. It seems we are all experiencing the "new" normal. I am over 50 and never thought we would see the junk designs, lack of intelligence, or plain carelessness that I am seeing in manufacturing. I work for a medical device manufacturer and am starting to see signs of this...
Oh crap, I have one that is bent and I tossed it in my salvage pile (never throw anything away). I was going to just find a nice used part thinking they are a dime a dozen. Thanks for the heads up, I will be retrieving that part and doing some serious repair/restoration on it. Put a clear tag...
Son started a Youtube channel:
This one is a general overview of current status and his plans. Been working on a bunch of little details and getting ready to put the glass in so the interior is sealed. Then the electronics and control package will go in.
