    Car Cover

I use Dustop covers on my Mustang and Corvette. These are garage-kept cars, and the Dustop covers are for indoor use only. But they work great!

    Brake System help

Exactly why I do this kind of work one side at a time! Can't mix 'em up that way. :)

    Rear Speaker Options - concept

I will caution you regarding speakers (or anything else) that are not bolted in place. In a front or side collision, they WILL become projectiles. Even a minor accident could have bad consequences if you or a passenger get hit in the head by a flying speaker or other object. I would not trust...

    Radiators

This is what I did. When my original radiator developed a pinhole leak, I took it to a nearby radiator shop and had them build me a 4-row core that worked with my original tanks and top/bottom straps. The result looks like a stock radiator but with better cooling power.

Vibration when running engine at 1200-1700 rpm’s and crusing about the same.

I had a very similar vibration problem with a 302-2v engine in a Mustang. Turned out to be a bad balancer.

Mach 1 in movie The Hill

"only a handful of enthusiasts nerding out in the small circles of the internet would care" Yep, that's me. I spot stuff like that all the time! I'm a lifelong car guy and a retired electrical engineer who spent 43 years working in the aerospace industry. I can't watch any automotive or...

Mach 1 in movie The Hill

The main character in the 2023 baseball movie The Hill drives a really trashed Mach 1 that looks like a mixture of '71 through '73 parts. The storyline takes place in 1971. I can't figure out how the Mustang could possibly look like a 30 year old junkyard refugee when it's only 1 to 3 years...

    Rear Power Window socket wiring

Looks like someone's had the switch socket apart and didn't get the wires back in the right places. BY THE WAY... If anyone's been looking for '71-'72 power window switches, switch mounts, and bezels, they were also used in '69-'70 full-size Ford and Mercury passenger cars. I managed to snag...

    Dealer emblems

I'm fortunate to have the original dealer emblem on my '72 convertible. When I had the car painted in the spring of 1991, the body shop welded up the mounting holes for the emblem. They were shocked when I griped at them about it, telling me that "Nobody wants those ugly old emblems on their...

    Front Spoiler for Mach1

Back onto the original topic after the front license plate diversion. Does anyone currently sell a correct reproduction front spoiler molded in argent? I'd like to replace mine (which is an OLD argent repro that only ever fit so-so) and I don't want to mess with trying to paint a black one if...

    Front Spoiler for Mach1

Front plates are required here in Texas, and it's a $250 fine if you get busted for not having one. And having it sitting up in your windshield will not cut it. A friend of mine got busted for that in his BMW.

What is this part called and where can I buy a new one?

I bought a reproduction Radiator Air Deflector Seal kit from Auto Krafters via eBay. They offered free shipping, so compared to NPD, I saved about $8.00 on the exact same parts. Auto Krafters sells it as a Torino/Montego part, but Mustang, Cougar, and other FoMoCo products use the same one...

    Kill switch system? Your thoughts?

If your intent is to make the car harder to steal, there are ways to slow the thieves down that don't cost much and are not obvious. Insert a hidden switch in the control lead to the starter relay, so the starter won't turn. Insert a hidden switch in the hot lead to the ignition, so the engine...

    no brake lights

Looking at the schematic now. Do the emergency (4-way) flashers work? EDIT: The reason I'm asking is that there is a circuit breaker in the power feed to the brake light circuit, and it also feeds the emergency flasher circuit. If yours has failed, you'll have no power to the brake lights or...

What is this part called and where can I buy a new one?

Must vary from owner to owner. My '72 was a one-owner, unmolested, unrestored car when I bought it in 1988. The seal was on top of the core support. I don't think I've ever seen one under the core support. Sorry, not trying to be argumentative. :)
