Well, I've already got that half-inch hole where the parking brake warning light is supposed to be and let's face it...never going to find one of those. :)
This has me thinking seriously of wiring up an ignition switch using this:

and this:

Put in the key, put it in run, flip up the cover, switch on, and push up to crank. :)
I'd be really disappointed if they didn't. ;)
Ok. this was my initial inclination for the rear end, but I wasn't sure whether or not it was safe to jack the car up from the pumpkin.
So, I bought my '71 vert last fall and I haven't had reason to jack it up until now. I'm wondering what are the safest points for the jack to lift the car and to place the jack stands. If someone can recommend safe lift and jack points for front and rear, I'd greatly appreciate it.
For the record, I'm a Unix/Linux sysadmin, not a Windows guy.
That being said, I would not count on a clean restore by the backup system. Your best bet would be to pull the old drive (as has been suggested) and use an external enclosure to connect it to the new computer.
I haven't used the HIDs but I just replaced my old headlamps with the Scott Drake halogen replacements and they're at least 2x brighter than the filament lamps that were in there. I'm not crazy about the color temp of most of the HID kits I've seen. Halogen gives a nice, white illumination...
Bill73Ragtop: You might want to check this listing. Guy doesn't mention wanting a convertible but he may just not have considered it.
