What is the shelf life of the F78X14 space saver spare tire? I have the original in my 72 Vert along with an equally old inflation can. I never plan on using it but just wondered if they would still work over 50 years later.

Special Paint, Ford # unknown

You know I have never researched how the special order paint worked but I am sure it has to be a color Ford had on some other vehicle from the current model year or maybe for a couple of previous years.

I took this pic of the paint under the dash pad on the passenger side. It is close to the current paint but I think has a little more red in it than the current color.

72 Q-code vert, with C6.

The original owner passed and I bought it from his widow. So I really don't know much more. Even the nooks and crannies look very much like the current paint but it may have been more red than orange. I just don't know.

Check my post in the Marti Reports forum (Link). My 1972 Q-code vert is pretty untouched. Happy to answer any questions I can.

I am not sure as the Marti report says "special paint Ford # unknown". I think it was close to the color it is now but the PO repainted in 2008 before I bought it.

Thanks for the interest. I purchased this from the original owner in Omaha Nebraska in 2009. It has ~54k miles on it and except for a new coat of paint in 2008 it is pretty much stock as it came except for the fact that the 8-track no longer plays. I have done nothing except maintenance items...
