Monstrosity of a spoiler.. Where did this come from?

I suppose I have two options there. Fill the holes with weld (just have to avoid getting the panel too hot) and then grind it down, finishing with a thin coat of lightweight body filler and some primer sealer. This may nit be ideal as the inside looks like the frame of the trunk lid was cut...

Monstrosity of a spoiler.. Where did this come from?

I may just have a real contender for the "worst hood paint ever" thread. Start it and I'll certainly document the 3mm thick ledges, massive bubbles, orange peel galore and more. It's quite bad.

Monstrosity of a spoiler.. Where did this come from?

Ding ding ding! We have a winner!!! Thanks for sharing that ebay listing. You rock. The seller shows the measurements and it's a perfect match. Next question: anyone need a used Firebird spoiler? Hahahaha

Monstrosity of a spoiler.. Where did this come from?

What in the world is this ugly thing on the back of my 73 Mach 1? It came with the car so I've left it in place for now. About to swap it for the correct one, but figured before I take it off, let me see if anyone can ID this ugly thing. Can anyone identify where this spoiler came from? I...

Holley 4160 secondary fuel bowl leak question

Wow, I've had a lot of these carbs, and never saw one leak from that spot. Looks like someone already tried to seal it. I'd never say JB weld a carb, but I don't think you'll fix that without changing it out. JB weld may work, but it'll also look ugly. That's a beautiful motor you've got there...

    Steering shaft pulls OUT!??

Solved! That was it. Part 3641 is indeed an anchor that holds everything in place. There are two of them. My steering wheel no longer pulls out and my floor shifter goes into all gears.

    Steering shaft pulls OUT!??

I think I've figured out the problem. I could be wrong, but the 7/16th nut is attached to a bolt that anchors to the columns internal frame... from the referenced diagrams, it's 3641 "Steering Column Tube Flange" Is that really how this holds together?

Hello from PA! Restoring a 73 Mach 1

Thank you everyone for the awesome welcome. I really appreciate all the compliments and words of encouragement. I'll definitely post more photos. I think I'll start a project build post to keep everyone up to speed on where I'm at - and the struggles this car is throwing my way. Cheers!

Hello from PA! Restoring a 73 Mach 1

Thanks PoFoMoCo. That is a 65 C code 289 power top convertible that I started restoring 10 years ago. I purchased it for $2,000 and it was all of 4 wheels and a frame. The 289 in it is something to behold... Has a t5 with all new stock clutch linkage. All digital gauges, black and white pony...

Hello from PA! Restoring a 73 Mach 1

Thanks @Kilgon, here's a few pics. I am definitely considering a shift kit but my experience with doing so is zero. I am much more familiar with the inner workings of a t5. But, I'd like to see what I can get out of the c6 to give it a more race inspired feel. I've never driven this car, as it...

    Steering shaft pulls OUT!??

Thanks! Those diagrams are helpful. I've reassembled and further noticed that when I turn the wheel, the entire metal housing for the ignition column area is moving in and out when turning the wheel. The next metal section rotates when I move the shifter out of park. That section seems to be...

    Steering shaft pulls OUT!??

I'm working on a 73 Mach 1, it has non tilt steering column. I've had the steering wheel off all summer, but I remember when I drove the old girl in, every time I turned the wheel, the ignition would cut out. It felt like the steering wheel was pulling out as I turned the wheel, and this pulled...
