    Couple of 351C Questions

Thank you for the reply. If yours also has the three groove then I’m barking up the wrong tree. I also have no idea how old that pulley is or the alternator pulley or the ps pulley. They all look pretty worn. I was thinking about taking the belts off and running it a couple of minutes and see if...

    Couple of 351C Questions

Hi and thank you for the reply. I had the engine rebuilt about 18 months ago so I’m hoping it isn’t too serious. But who ever knows. I will look closer. You may have a point and it is coming from somewhere else. When I saw it there I made an assumption and stopped looking. Thanks again!

    Couple of 351C Questions

Hi all - I have a couple of questions i need help with I have tried to find the answer online and in the Ford assembly manual I have but can’t seem to figure it out. The car is a 1971 Mach 1 with a 351C 4V. Question 1) I have a leak at the base of my oil dipstick tube. It seems to begin when the...

    FMX Transmission Stutter

Here is the stick. And I checked the vacuum on the manifold port on the carb. It showed 16 inches of vacuum. That’s where the transmission vacuum is pulling from.

    FMX Transmission Stutter

I’ve checked it and it shows full. But now that you make me think of it, I wonder if it’s the right dip stick. It bottoms out and doesn’t completely sit down on the tube at the top. Perhaps I’m getting a bad reading? The stick seems it May be too long. Thanks for reminding me of that.

    FMX Transmission Stutter

I will do that. I have a gauge. How many inches should it be pulling? 12 to 15??

    FMX Transmission Stutter

Hi all, I have a 71 Mach 1 with a 351c and an FMX transmission. I recently installed a Pertronix Ignitor and a new Pertronix coil. At the same time I installed a phenolic carb spacer. This made my cranking much better. But it also advanced my timing and was idling too fast. I read where...

    12v Switched Wire

Thank you, Sir! I’m going to watch it again

    12v Switched Wire

Thank you! I was also going to change the coil to a Pertronix Flame Thrower. If I do that, should I still only use the 12v wire to the Pertronix module and leave the current wire going to the coil?

    12v Switched Wire

I will quickly stipulate that I am an electrical novice. I have a 1971 Mach 1 a 351C. I want to install a Pertronix 1281 Ignitor and eliminate my points. After watching Mr Hale’s video, I know I need a 12v switched wire. I have put a picture of what I have. In the picture, the middle connector...

    Leaf Spring Bushings

I finished and am very happy with the result! It sits exactly like I wanted it too without longer shackles or air shocks. The people at Eaton Detroit were very helpful and nice to deal with.

    Leaf Spring Bushings

Thank you for your reply. I wanted the rear up a bit too and struggled which way to go. In the end I had them make them with a 2” lift. I’m very interested to get it back in the ground and see if it’s what I hoped for. If not, I can always go your route and change the shackles. Either way it has...

    Leaf Spring Bushings

Hi everyone. I try to do my own research before I ask questions. But on this topic I am finding conflicting advice online. I am installing new leaf springs on the rear of my ‘71 Mach 1. They are Eaton Detroit springs. The bushings at the top of the shackle will slide in just fine without...

    Tail Light Assembly

Thank you very much. I see that now. Hope to get them in this weekend. Thanks again!

    Tail Light Assembly

Thank you for your reply. I did a poor job of asking my question. Yes, left and right are the same. But the gasket itself is a bit different on each side of the gasket. I’m trying to determine which side of the gasket goes against the assembly, and which side of the gasket would then go against...
