    Top loader problem...HELP!!!

Also, I don't remember having the shaft move little if at all, but I did that several months ago, so perhaps it did. If that was the case, I assume I will see where the problem is pretty easily, or no?

    Top loader problem...HELP!!!

Linkage is not attached. I had them unbolted and was actuating the 3 shift levers coming out of the transmission by hand. I was just responding to Stanglover, and perhaps I misunderstood his question. Previously when I had all the levers in neutral, before attaching the linkage, I would...

    Top loader problem...HELP!!!

Thanks for the thought. I had a 1/4" drill bit through the locating holes.

    Top loader problem...HELP!!!

I released the clutch and with all levers in neutral, the drive shaft will NOT turn. I am draining the tailshaft and in the next day or two, I will pull the transmission to see what's going on. Any suggestions of anything in particular to look for? hopefully once I pull the top plate, I will be...

    Top loader problem...HELP!!!

I will be back on it tomorrow. I think you are correct in that I have a couple gears locked....I seem to remember reading somewhere, that could happen. c9zx had a good point, but I tried to be very careful when I pulled that retainer and don't remember anything unusual, but I'll be sure to check...

    Top loader problem...HELP!!!

I pulled this transmission when I started the engine rebuild. The only thing I did to it was replace the oils seals on the front and rear and refill with new grease. I did not move the shift levers. Now that it's back on the engine and in the car, it seems there is a gear locked up, I think 4th...

Headers for 351c with 4 speed

I have a 71 351c, 4 speed. I have Hooker 6315-H, they are the ceramic coated headers. They fit very well, but I do not have power steering, so depending how the pump and lines hang, that may be a problem, although I wouldn't think it would.

    Dash Lights

Thanks to everyone for taking the time to offer advice. I will be trying all the suggestions until I find the one that works for me. I will let you know how it, and what, works out.

    351c rebuild

Thank you for the kind comments. Didn't do anything special, however, they are painted with a brush. I know..sounds weird, but I use Eastwood ceramic engine paint. It flows so well, that you can do that on something like the crinkle black finish on cast aluminum valve covers and get away with...

    351c rebuild

I rebuilt the 351c in my shop and added a few upgrades. I think it came out beautifully. Thought I would share this picture. It's now back in the Mach and sounds great. Sorry I couldn't get it to attach to the post, but here's the link. http://i66.tinypic.com/9h2yj5.jpg

    Dash Lights

My dash lights were getting dimmer before I put this car in my shop a few years ago. Just about have it ready to roll again and today hooked up the battery and everything works, but dash lights are still quite dim. I seem to remember reading that the circuit boards behind the dash would cause...

    Heat shield....I think!

Thanks for your update. I appreciate it. I was underneath mine yesterday, and with the Hookers on, there is ample room, so it wouldn't be needed, but I'm putting it back on anyway because that's the way it came. I'll have to unbolt the mount and raise the engine just a bit to slide it in, but...

    Heat shield....I think!

Response to secluff, Mine is a 71 351c "M" code also. Was also wondering why there would only be one unless that side exhaust header ran so much closer than the other, to the mount.

    Heat shield....I think!

Thanks everyone. 6972 boss is my hero. I remembered it came from down in that area ....one side or the other - like I mentioned was thinking starter heat shield. Now, we'll see how hard it will be to install it since everything is already bolted in and wired, ready to drive! I've got ceramic...

    Heat shield....I think!

Anyone recognize this? I've had the car apart for about 2 years. Took a lot of pictures of wiring, etc. It's all beck together with no problems except for this. I just don't remember where this came from. Thought it was a starter heat shield, but there is nowhere for it to mount...
