The car has probably been painted and the holes for the original badging were filled - one way or another.

Which part of the cap was painted? There is a brushed portion that might be painted on service parts.

I'd be interested in the rear interior quarters if they aren't crumbly from UV damage.

Avoiding shipping is a Good Thing. I bought an NOS '71 convertible left side rear quarter panel years ago for super low money. Yellow Freight folded it in half cramming another box into the trailer. Fortunately their insurance was good for it.

If it's pinging, you are running lean or need to adjust timing. If lean under acceleration and rich at idle, I would suspect the jets.

Valve clatter or ping?

Taking a sportsroof car in good initial condition and making it what you want. You may never find one that meets your requirements.

You might have better luck building one.

Maybe check the valve system for that valve. It may not be opening all the way, causing the lean burn.

The wiring harness connectors are different on a '73 tilt column. You could swap over the ones from your column.
