    Water ingress to trunk

Here's the gutter on a convertible. It takes water from the top and directs it into the space occupied by the quarter windows, where it drains out of the car. I'm not certain if there is a similar sized channel in the roofed cars.

    Water ingress to trunk

The gutter drains in front of the rear wheel opening. It's pretty shallow, so you can get slop over the top of the gutter and into the trunk.

    Shorter rear window crank handles?

My rear cranks are shorter than the fronts.

    Anyone into Vintage Audio HiFi?

For the money I haven't found anything better for music. B&O is tough to beat for Dolby 5.1 surround sound.

    Anyone into Vintage Audio HiFi?

My ears were formed in the early 80's, so here's how I keep them happy. The shop has: South room Adcom GFA 555II bridged power amps (2 @ 200 watts per channel into 8 ohms, 400 watts bridged) Adcom 6 speaker switch Adcom GTP 500 tuner/preamp BSR 14xr equalizer Pioneer PD-M40 6 disc changer...

Electric vehicles, yes or no. Interesting video

A couple of things. This video is 3 years old. A lot has changed in that time. First, lithium prices are going down - there is now more lithium supply than there is demand. Extraction is more efficient and lithium can be (and is) recycled. The recovery and reuse process is also now more...

    Instrument panel lenses very yellow

Interesting - I've never seen yellowed lenses on any Mustang. Has the entire lens discolored or just where it is exposed to the interior? If the whole lens is discolored, there may not be much you can do. If just the exposed portion is discolored, you may be able to polish off whatever got...

Poorly painted rear interior quarter trim panels

If you want to preserve texture, you can pull a mold off off a place where the texture is still good. There are materials for making molds for resin parts that are good for this - they keep the detail and stay flexible so you can add texture around curves. Remove any distressed plastic from...

Poorly painted rear interior quarter trim panels

Citristrip has worked for me. It doesn't damage underlying plastic. I find it at Lowes.

    Classic car selling companies

I guess I don't understand the animosity towards classic car dealers. This is pretty much the way any preowned merchandise is sold, particularly on consignment. The dealer probably doesn't even set the price. Hemmings, BAT, Mecum, et. al. all work this way. Heck - even the guy down the...

    Good NACA hood hinge?

Did you add the NACA duct hood to a car that had a standard hood? The hinges were the same, however the springs on the hinges were different. The NACA hood hinges had flat wires for the coils, the "normal" springs used round wire.

    Carb problem frustration level 10/10

Sounds like this carb really needs a complete rebuild. Stop trying to fix what is there. Tear it down, clean it up, put in a fresh rebuild kit and start from a known state. The mere fact that the venturis were swapped means that whoever worked on it before didn't know what they were doing, so...

Sold Horn set new or used?

I have had success reviving old horns with an ultrasonic cleaner. A couple of hours in one with a drop or two of Dawn dish soap and most often they come back. Remove the tuning screw and rotate the horns such that the water spins out of the horn body. You will be amazed at the amount of crud...

Noob question about arrow on piston

This is important! The wrist pin holes in the piston aren't exactly centered - there is a slight offset to account for the forces exerted on the piston during operation. If the piston is put in backwards (arrow pointing to the rear), you will get a knock as the piston skirt slaps the cylinder...

    Insurance lessons learned

All insurance companies make it super easy to send them a check. That part doesn't matter at all. What matters is what happens when they have to send you a check. I use State Farm for everything - daily drivers, specialty cars, homeowners, personal liability umbrella - the whole ball of...
