    Boss gas cap

I've always thought that Ford should have used the flip-open cap on the Boss 351, as I think it appears to be racier than the twist -on, but that's not what happened. Oh well, I'd still take the Boss any day over my Mach.

    Boss gas cap

I believe the twist-on cap is correct for the Boss.

    2nd small radiator?

My guess is that it's a transmission oil cooler. The A/c condenser is full size as the engine coolant radiator, but skinnier, and mounted in front of the coolant radiator. Of course, how would anyone really know exactly what you have, without a photo?

What is this part called and where can I buy a new one?

I had to trim the one I got from NPD to fit . I'm thinking that the plastic baffle is made wide to fit possibly cars with skinny radiators. I don't remember if I replaced the radiator that came with the car, or not, but on my car, the flap only needs to be half as wide to bridge the gap. This...

    351c 2v 4 bbl intake options

Sheriff.....that's what I thought. When I first bought my car, it had an Edelbrock intake and four barrel, and had all of the ram air system . It was kinda freakin me out that lots of people seemed to be talking about clearance problems, and I don't really remember having any issues. I had a...

    351c 2v 4 bbl intake options

So, what I'm seeing here, is that everyone has had to toss their factory "ram air" air filter assembly, regardless of model of aftermarket intake, because all of them are too high to close the hood over.

    351c 2v 4 bbl intake options

I think, therein lies the rub.......we all want to top off our engines with a "bitchin'" intake manifold. But the thing that is the elephant in the room, is, do you hack up your original hood, maybe get rid of the really cool option of the "ram air" set-up, or what? Most of us just don't want...

What is this part called and where can I buy a new one?

70cobrascj has it attached correctly. It's like that on my "71 as well. There may be those out there ,who will re-engineer the baffle, over, under, mounted to the core support, pop-riveted on.......nooooo. Over thinking this is silly, The photo is how it goes. I challenge those out there who...

    Clutch Equalizer Bar

I have a '71 Mach, and mine came with a little , round, redlight as Hemikiller says, that is on the lower left dash, by the headlight switch, and comes on momentarily when you start the car, just says "BELTS". I should say "HAD", because the plastic chrome bezel and red lens disappeared one day...

    Don C's Project

Nice looking gauges! MY factory Tach goes up to 8 grand as well...God help the owner who attempts 8 grand! I've wondered for years why most of the fuel pressure gauges go up to 15 psi, and will those read accurate, seeing as carburetors only need just under half of that. I found, and bought a...

Need help with heater hoses and control valve

I believe , that the heater valve is connected to the inboard nipple at the firewall, by a dedicated , molded "S" bent hose, and from the valve to the front by regular heater hose. Check it out, I bought the molded hose from a Mustang parts dealer, probably NPD, but I'm sure they all sell it. Of...

What is this part called and where can I buy a new one?

I bought a new one from NPD, it comes made of a more rigid material, so it may take some time to relax and fit better than when you initially install it. More "plastic-y" than rubbery. Funny, I was just looking thru some misc parts last night and found those very clips that hold it on. I will...

    351 2v to 4v conversation

The Aussie 302 heads that I have were $200 pr. A man walked into the shop, gave me his card, and said he was from Australia, just here in the States for a few months. He had shipped a truckload of heads over here with him and inquired as to if we were interested, or knew anyone who was...

    Oil pressure

Just so I could sleep at night, I would consider dropping the pan and pump and inspecting the by-pass piston in your pump. That poppet can stick, sometimes in a partially open/closed position, bleeding off pressure. It's been known to happen, and worth checking. if it is stuck, or has some...

    351 2v to 4v conversation

Superbond, I'm currently building a new engine for my "71 Mach, the current engine is a 2v, which so far, has run excellent, for all that I use it for. The only addition on it is a Pertronix trigger in the distributor, and dual exhausts. At one point some years back, I had a 4...

Under the hood mysteries: Distributor Vaccum Control Valve.

Oh, yes, I didn't mention that I had removed the original distributor and installed a single advance, non-California distributor soon after buying the car. I believe the switches function was to deny any vacuum to the distributor at startup thereby reducing emissions and speeding engine warm up...

Under the hood mysteries: Distributor Vaccum Control Valve.

My '71 Mach 1 "H" code 2v has that device. However, early after I got the car, there was an issue with engine temp, and when this switch opened, the advance made the damned thing ping even under carefull acceleration, so I by-passed it. I remedied the temp issue but left the switch in-op, which...

    351 2v to 4v conversation

73 FSTBK, So, it sounds like, and correct me if I read your post incorrectly, but you currently have a stock "H" code '73......and you want to warm it up a bit for STREET driving, right? You've acquired 4v quench chambered heads. I think just to get started here, that year engine may have the...
