Slowest resto ever - Project AmsterFoose / Current subject: The rear window edge

My floor is finished, finally! 1 year. I can't believe it. This is how long ago I started working on the floor of my car, on May 23rd 2022. Unreal. Granted, I did make my own subframe connectors in between and installed a car lift and then life threw other things on me as well but still...

Screw the matte, the metallic is beautiful! The red liquid, is that acid or plating? Acid I guess?

Slowest resto ever - Project AmsterFoose / Current subject: The rear window edge

Howdo folks! I didn't have much to write about these past months. This floor has been keeping me busy for a looooooong time! But it's in! Almost 2 months ago I finished welding the floors from inside the car, it looked like this: I was quite happy with the result but when inspecting the...

    Drain holes in subframe connector

It's not dipped yet but it will get dipped in phosforic acid, then cleaned and the base coat is also applied in a bath. The idea is to remove ALL rust and get everything coated :-)

    Lift underneath subframe connectors?

Thanks for all your replies guys. This morning I have bought one of these: Should be delivered (didn't fit in my trunk) this tuesday and I can't wait. Next to the 2 sets of wilwood disc brakes it's the most money spent on my Mustang at once... I went to the shop to see it. It'seemed very...

    Lift underneath subframe connectors?

A scissor lift is what I’m gonna look at this week as well. Don’t want a 2 post and 4 post is too expensive and hardly ever fits my garage’s narrow width.

    Lift underneath subframe connectors?

Hey guys, I reached a point where I really would like to buy a car lift. They usually support underneath the front and rear frame rails correct? But I now have the subframe connectors installed: Can the car still be lifted under the front rail and now underneath the subframe connector? The...

Slowest resto ever - Project AmsterFoose / Current subject: The rear window edge

Small update on the floor. The LH side has all the plug welds done. I haven't welded it to the tunnel yet coz I want to do that at the same time I do the RH side to even out stress. So I've started putting the RH side floor pan in the past weekend. Positioned it with the seat riser in, made sure...

Slowest resto ever - Project AmsterFoose / Current subject: The rear window edge

Well, had very little time for my car this month. Had to emergency fix some drainage that flooded after installing our new washing machine. Work was too busy as well. And then I thought I’d start on the plug welds joining the floor to the rocker and I was not happy with them: So I figured I’d...

    Drain holes in subframe connector

Sometimes the most obvious gets overlooked so your reply is as welcome as any other mate :) Having said that, the lowest point is at the rear as the connectors actually bend down.

    Drain holes in subframe connector

Thanks for everybody's replies. I'll put in a 1/4" hole then. Regarding the inside: the car will get dipped so every cavity will be coated

    Drain holes in subframe connector

Howdo folks, My homemade subframe connectors are on my car but I was thinking (there comes trouble) that since they are completely closed except for inside the front frame rails, any water that comes in will flow down towards the rear with no exit holes. The situation looks like this: Would...

Slowest resto ever - Project AmsterFoose / Current subject: The rear window edge

In hindsight, when building your own connectors from these plans, I think it's easiest to make the cuts, keep em on the small side, bend and test-fit and then weld. I think our cars were put together so sloppy that every car may need slightly different angles to be honest. I think making them to...

Slowest resto ever - Project AmsterFoose / Current subject: The rear window edge

Not so much on my sanity as it does on my body! I don't have a lift and it was 0 degrees Celcius yesterday. No heating in my garage and spent the day on the concrete floor. I'm 49 but I feel like 100 today!

Slowest resto ever - Project AmsterFoose / Current subject: The rear window edge

Started welding in the LH floor pan yesterday. Screwed it onto the front frame rail and aligned everything just right. I put in the first 37 (out of 70) plug welds on the front frame rail and toe board. Also did a few welds in different locations to keep it in place. It's looking fine sofar...

What other hobbies do you have?

My gf likes to think that HER house is MY hobby ;-) Our cat thinks he is my hobby. My folks think that fixing their IT problems are my hobby. The government seems to think that paying taxes is my hobby, too. In the little free time I have that is not spent on restoring my mustang, I...
