Did you ever receive your master cylinder rebuild kit? I need to do this as well, and I’m having trouble finding a kit.

So there is no kit available that anyone knows of for the master cylinder? I was hoping to rebuild mine, but I might have to get a cheapo from NAPA to get me by if there are no rebuild kits out there.

Sad news...my condolences. Glad his car wound up with a good caretaker.

Is the damage already done to the booster, or do you think it will be ok if rebuild/replace the master cylinder ASAP?

I just wrestled my torsion bars into that 3rd slot, and my trunk lid does stay up now but just barely. Much better than propping it up with an arrow shaft like I have been doing for years. 😀

My interior is in ok shape for being 50 years old, however I have some seams that have come apart on the passenger seat and in the back. Can these be repaired by an upholstery shop? They appear to literally have “come apart at the seams” the actual vinyl material is not ripped.

Bumping this in the hopes that this can be revived...I always enjoy reading how people came to own their cars.

I have this same issue, I didn't realize there were different slots for the torsion rods to go into. I'll check this out tomorrow on mine. Would be nice to not get nailed in the back by the trunk when I'm digging around in there :)

Yeah, the more I look into this the more I think it looks like getting a new one is the way to go. I'll hang on to my old one and possibly attempt a rebuild in the future. Another dumb question...if this steering box were to completely fail, I would only lose my power steering right? I...

I do have access to a sand blaster at work, I did my drum covers last year with it...is one method better that the other? Chemically stripping vs blasting? I think the only medium we have here at work is garnet chips, and walnut chips? And as for flattening, these were on my car years ago...they...

Thanks for the comments everyone, I think I will just save it all...I was able to fix my car heater today because I had old parts in the trunk!
