    70 351c 4v camshaft selection

Your performance is directly affected by your choice of intake. Where do you want your torque curve and hp curve to be most useful? On the track at high rpm, or on the street from light to light. The value of the dual plane has proven itself over and over. If you want more performance go to the...

    Engine identification

The cast iron timing chain housing that is integral with the block indicates that it is a Cleveland.

    Cranking PSI 72 351C 2 bbl

The Ford manuals don't list factory baseline. I'm sure that is to eliminate future customer concerns.

    351c 2v cam question

    2. XE256H - 212/218 @ 50. -- .487/.493 -- 110 is probably the best choice of the three you picked, though I'm not sure why you shied away from a 112 lobe separation. Maybe I'm just getting old but I don't have to emulate all of the other cars on the road today going, "frump, frump, frump". If...

Are you running a 429 Blue Thunder intake?

    Sniper X Cleveland X Timings

Questions: Was this a 4 bbl engine with 4 bbl heads, and did you use the open chamber heads? Are you running 87 or 93 octane? What is your current compression ratio? Can you read the A/F ratio during those times of pinging? There should be compensation for enrichment under load.

I have three sets of manuals from Ford for '71-'73. The compression numbers should be within 75% of the highest number.

What Powertrain for My 73 Mustang Convertible?

So you admit you've never driven and Ecoboost? The 2018 3.5 Ecoboost has the same output as the '71 429 Super Cobra Jet. That same Ecoboost will get 21 mpg in an F150 weighing close to 5000 lbs. I challenge you to find a 429 SCJ getting better than 14 mpg tops. I don't think my '73 351 CJ ever...

What Powertrain for My 73 Mustang Convertible?

If you want simplicity, do yourself a favor and get a 5.0, the old 302 found in the '71-'73, and upgrade with the factory H.O. roller cam and the MAF fuel injection using the long intake of the '89 style 5.0. I had that engine in my '89 Mustang GT and I was hitting 25 mpg on the highway with the...

    351c distributor

Am I correct in assuming you put this in a single point distributor? The breaker plate anchors are NOT the same between single point and dual point. The best Motorcraft distributor to use is the dual point which rotates on a set of bearings that are concentric with the axis of the distributor...

    LED dash lights...opinions?

I'm still using the quartz halogen headlight bulbs. I did find that after being on a while the lights would cut out or flicker. Pretty scary at night. I bought one of those dual gang relays for the headlights to take the load off of the light switch and problem was solved.

    Ram air and distributor issues

Didn't the '73 change to the captive engine mounts on the 351 like they used on the convertible?

    351C Distributor question

I used a Motorcraft dual point. The breaker plate pivots on a bearing concentric with the axis of the shaft, unlike the single point which has a point of anchor 180 degrees from the vacuum diaphram anchor point on that plate. I then use the Pertronix conversion setup and I believe I used the...

    351 cleveland hesitation and slow.

I have owned a '73 Q code since May of '76. When working on that particular year you must understand several peculiarities about the car. First, the 4v engine was an 8.0 to 1 compression motor. If you used the dished pistons and then the large combustion chamber 4v heads you won't have high...

    351 cleveland hesitation and slow.

Looking at that frontal view of your rear end, it IS a 9" housing. Sorry, I should have zoomed it better the first time.

    351 cleveland hesitation and slow.

This IS a 9 inch. An easy way to remember is a deep well socket WILL fit directly onto the bottom two mounting bolts of an 8" housing. If it is a 9" housing, the casting around the pinion juts down in front of those bottom two bolts and you have to use a 9/16" universal socket or a box end...

Why the V6 trans? Does it have to be upgraded or rebuilt to handle a stout Cleveland? Is the V6 a 4R70 trans or just the AODE? Thanks.
