    OE Tie Rod

Nice article, I noticed the tie rod bolts and nuts were listed as 5/16 -20 coarse thread design. Standard coarse thread is 5/16 -18. Wonder if the 5/16 - 20 was a typo or they really were 5/16 -20 which would be a rarity. Standard fine thread is 5/16 -24.

Needed help with my roof repair, it was weak and had an oil canny feel. I think I have it solved, now.

Glad it appears to have worked out. The workmanship looks great. One thing you might want to check (if you already haven't) is headliner bow fitment. The center of the three roof supports you added appears to be close to interfering with one of the headliner bows that fit into one of the...

I think I have something going on with the differential

I would expect no slop. If there is slop, the drive shaft assembly at that end could move off center and vibrate when spinning. The drive shaft assembly might be out of balance. The severity of vibration (and resulting noise) would tend to change at different rpms, more sever at speeds near...

Drive shaft universal joint(s) could be a possibility also.

    Part identity

It looks similar to heater hose fittings pressed into the engine block. The long end being the portion pressed in and short end where a heater hose connects.

    Mystery part..what is it?

Yes, package shelf retainer. Two used on coupes and Fastback with out Sport Deck (fold down) rear seat.

    Center Console Fitment

The console may sit lower than desired if there is no underlayment on the drive shaft tunnel under the carpet and or the carpet doesn't have built in padding on its underside. I recall the factory screws that hold the console in place are quite long and were the self drilling type. Given there...
  18. Doug's 73 Mach1

Needed help with my roof repair, it was weak and had an oil canny feel. I think I have it solved, now.

All Mustang coupes came with a roof reinforcement (same one used on Cougars). One of those modified to fit a Mach 1 might be an alternative to the Mach 1 3/4" vinyl roof version. I think (but not certain) the Mach 1 roofs are lower and flatter than coupe roofs, so the reinforcements may be...

    Mysterious Vacuum Hose, were to...?

Distributors also have a centrifugal mechanical advance that increases timing as engine rpm goes higher. That kicks in and gradually increases timing an usually maxes out in the mid 30s of advance. I think with different engines and distributors the rpm it starts increasing advance at varies...
