Original trunk and under hood lights used a mercury switch built into the light sockets. The positive wire on these was always "hot" connected to a 12V battery source. The light bracket fastened to the trunk lid or hood served as the ground connection.

Stock clocks use the full 12 volts. Stock clocks can't run 10X faster given a 12 volt little solenoid "winds" the clock spring once every minute or so. The clock is all mechanical, except for the little solenoid.

I am not sure about 71s, but on 73s the blue canister absorbs fuel vapor from the top of the fuel tank when the gas and gas vapor expands due to heat such as when parked on a hot day on the blacktop pavement. When the engine is running some of that absorbed vapor is drawn into the air cleaner...

These were used in Cougars. Fit Mustangs also as the door latches are the same. You would need to rig up a door ajar warning light. These switches "ground" when the door is ajar. So 12+ is fed to the light and the ground for the light is the door wiring with switch. If you have power...

My 73 Mach 1 is a Q code 4V and uses the long one type pictured. Can't speak for 71/72s.

The 71 setup is different (because of the 71 seat lease knob being in the center bottom of the seat back) than the 72/73 type. I understand via one of the forums only available starting in early 72 because of part shortages. It was part of the convenience group. $100 plus shipping.

Fits group 24F batteries. These were very often thrown away when the battery was replaced. $75 plus shipping
