Rubber flap on radiator that closes gap between radiator and radiator support

Hey team, Question.. Is the flap in the attached picture that is clipped to the top of the radiator that closes the gap between the radiator and the radiator support panel a factory item? Was it used in any specific car / engine types in the 71-73 Mustangs? The gap between the radiator to the...

    Trunk upholstery

Following with interest. Were these lower rear quarter panel covers in just some cars? I made some for my 72 Mach 1. There were no holes in the metal work to screw them down so added them.

    Disc brake conversion options

Per the pictures on my blog, I replaced the upper and lower control arms at the same time. This is not mandatory, but the ball joints were original 50 yr old ones. So opted to replace them while I was at it.

    Disc brake conversion options

Jase, I'm in Melbourne, Australia. I have a 72 Mach 1 that had factory drum brakes. I have completed the conversion on my car. I used XF Flacon front callipers and spindles. I got them from a wrecker and cleaned them up, replaced the rubbers and away you go. I also got a master cylinder /...

    air cleaner air flex tube

I picked up the round flexible duct from the exhaust shield to the underside of the air cleaner from WestCoast cougar. Fits perfectly. My car still had the clamp, air cleaner and shield on the exhaust. https://secure.cougarpartscatalog.com/100022628.html

To 4v your '72 Cleveland or not to 4v, that's the question.

My Mach 1 is a factory H code. I left the 2v (small port) heads on it and replaced the inlet manifold with a Ford cast 4 barrel square bore inlet manifold (as used on Australian built 351 Clevelands in 74/75). I replaced the factory 2 barrel motorcraft carb with a 4300 Motorcraft. Had the jets...

What colour should the centre be on a rim blow steering wheel

Interestingly, I found this picture on line for a car that was for sale - https://classiccars.com/listings/view/1276446/1973-ford-mustang-mach-1-for-sale-in-lakeland-florida-33810. Other than the full size centre console, this is how my car would look.. I think I'm inclined to get the centre...

What colour should the centre be on a rim blow steering wheel

Guys, Thanks for the info. I do tend to agree re the colour of the column and the lower part of the dash being black therefore the wheel probably would look better being black. There is already a lot of ginger in the interior with seats, crash pad, carpet etc etc.. Re the centre emblem. The...

What colour should the centre be on a rim blow steering wheel

Rio, to be honest I dont remember the front seats being that "bucket" like. They may have extra padding. Here are a few other cars pics. Note the one with the cloth was an option where the cloth inserts were added for both front and back seats to help with the hot Australian summer. They are...

What colour should the centre be on a rim blow steering wheel

Just found this thread re steering wheels. https://7173mustangs.com/threads/correct-steering-wheels-by-year.26982/ Based on the info supplied, it seems that if the 3 spoke rim blow was ordered then it would then be trim colour.. So if thats the case then I think I have found the answer to my...

What colour should the centre be on a rim blow steering wheel

Team, I have a question re the Rim Blow steering wheel option for our 71-73 Mustangs. I live in Australia and in the past have owned our locally built GT Flacons. As part of the interior package of the local Falcons, they come with the Rim Blow steering wheel. In all cases the locally built...

72 Mach 1 - Window winder handle and knob - factory vs repro

Steve. Thanks for the info.\ So the theory is that the knobs on the handles that are on the car that "look" to be ginger were most likely be clear colour ones from the factory and have changed colour due to time and heat. So the best approach if I want to maintain the original look is to...

72 Mach 1 - Window winder handle and knob - factory vs repro

Guys, I have a 72 Mach 1 in gold glow with ginger trim The window winder knobs are kind of ok but not brilliant. I went looking for and ordered new ginger knobs expecting that I would just replace the knobs. I had to drill out the rivet on the back of the old knob to remove but found that the...

72 Mach 1 - What is the factory colour for the headlight buckets and mounting brackets?

I took the L bracket to the local Auto place that can mix up spray can paint colours. They ran out of black so will have to go back. For now I painted the lower square part black and left the L brackets factory colour (slop grey) as they in fairly good condition. Once I can get the paint colour...
