72 Mach 1 - What is the factory colour for the headlight buckets and mounting brackets?

Thanks for the explanation of what "slop grey" is. Also, thanks for the pics of the 12slot wheels. In my mind argent was darker, but now looking at other pics It is much lighter than I thought. I will see if I can get something mixed up to closely match.

72 Mach 1 - What is the factory colour for the headlight buckets and mounting brackets?

Thanks for the feedback guys. Yes I agree the vertical latch support is / was black on mine. The Headlight bracket is black. The L bracket and the large square plate on mine is the "slop grey". This is unlike Stanglover (Geoff) pics where only the L bracket is the Slop grey. As mine is...

72 Mach 1 - What is the factory colour for the headlight buckets and mounting brackets?

Hey team, Am fixing up some rusty looking parts in front of the radiator support and the radiator support panel it self. I have pulled the front bumper, grill and related headlight mounting parts. I would like to retain the factory look. My question is: What colour should the headlight buckets /...

72-Mach 1 - Chasing an alternator issue, turn out to be emergency brake switch wire

Update to my alternator issue. I changed the volt meter that I added under the dash for a speco one. Not because the one I had was fautly, but more top match the mechanical Oil pressure and temp gages I had added. The new gauge is more responsive and flickers above 14v and goes to 16v when...

72 Mach1 - Convert from stock heater box to after market AC

Hey guys, I have a 72 Mach 1 (351C) that was not optioned with AC from the factory. I live in Australia and love to drive my ride all year round. As you know, our summers get warm so am keen to add AC to the car. I would prefer a kit that makes the install look as factory as I can. I have done...

Location of ballast resistor to the coil? Somewhere under the dash

Geoff, Albert, Thanks for your comments / suggestions. I was also thinking of a relay to resolve the issue. I will talk to my local Pertronix supplier re the relay option as that then removes the need to modify the factory loom. Per Geoff's comment. I will have a look at the loom for the pink...

Location of ballast resistor to the coil? Somewhere under the dash

Chuck, Thanks for the update. I figured it would be a PITA job to find / replace. I will have a look to see if I can find it. So it is outside the normal wiring loom wrapping? Can the red/light green stripe wires be seen going in and out of the "folder taco"?

Location of ballast resistor to the coil? Somewhere under the dash

Guys, Can anyone advise where the 1.3 ohm to 1.4 ohm resistor is located under the dash that goes between the ignition switch and the coil? I have a Pertronix Ignitor 1 installed and am only getting 5.5v at the coil. The coil I have is a 1.2Ohm coil so the current is low and the voltage is a bit...

72-Mach 1 - Chasing an alternator issue, turn out to be emergency brake switch wire

Update.. I completed some more testing and can confirm that the emergency brake wire does not have power to it and is not connected to ground. So it cant have been causing the short... The short has gone away now so the only thing I can think if is a wire in the main loom was touching and rubbed...

    wiring for parking brake switch

Per above testing the brake fail light.. When the ignition is turned to start, the light should come on. then go out. Assuming the light comes on, this shows that the wiring to the switch on the brake distribution block is working. There are 2 wires that go to the switch on the brake...

72-Mach 1 - Chasing an alternator issue, turn out to be emergency brake switch wire

Thanks for the info. I have the 72 diagram from Forel. They are very helpful. The colour part of the 72 set that I have is missing the last 2 pages that has the lights section so I just use the black and white sections. The part of Kens diagram you have shared look good. I need to do some more...

72-Mach 1 - Chasing an alternator issue, turn out to be emergency brake switch wire

Geoff, Thanks for the updates. It is very difficult to tell if the switch is on the emergency brake assembly. I would need to pull it out and I don't want to go that far... Midlife... Yes I'm still using the idiot lights.. Although I have installed the idiot light to tach conversion where it...
