Original rubber parts can/do shrink over time.

They will bolt on, but will be to far inward without spacers. Even if they clear, it will change your handling and steering due to the much narrower track width. Tires would be around 225/50/16.

The window/door seal trim comes down fairly far. Could be the water is getting in around that as well. Especially where it coincides with the trim screws. When the screws are installed, any paint or primer gets stripped away. That's if the holes are drilled before paint and primer. If after...

If Doug doesn't, I do. Same offer. Original, continuity checked. Spring tabs are a little weak, but they are 50 years old. I have the passenger side as well, but one spring tab is broken.

If I'm not mistaken, I think that was one the 73. I believe they moved the bumper out for the 5mph impact regulations and made the rubber filler piece.

Years ago, I shipped one to Australia. I used a sheet of the 1" pink insulation board from Home Depot and basically built a box within a box. The foam board is strong and rigid, braced itself. So impacts weren't transfered to the console, which was wrapped in 2" of bubble wrap.

As I understand it, if the car came with the hockey stick stripe, it got a black rocker paint with an adjacent black pinstripe. If it did not have the hockey stick stripe, it got a black rocker with the chrome/stainless trim.

I had a 'wanted' post on here looking for a scuzzy or broken pop-open to repair one I have. No responses. So either there are no scuzzy/broken ones out there (unlikely) or no body reads the ads beyond the first page of results?

That's the problem. China does make good stuff, but the importers are deciding which stuff to bring over based on what the distributors buyers will buy, which is based on which price point is actually moving off their shelves. Not enough demand for the higher quality goods (at a higher price)...
