    2000 Mustang Front end

The newer design is better dynamically- as the suspenstion travels there is less change in wheel alignment. The trade off is added cost and complexity over the simple McPherson layout. The inherent problem with McPherson strut designs is that there are (relatively) large changes in camber as...

    2000 Mustang Front end

Sounds interesting. I don't think that there are many (or any for that matter) of this type of project here. The majority of cars here are stock suspension layout or at the extreme, bolt-on coil over kits that don't require extensive cutting or fabrication. I am not a fan of 4.6's either...

    2000 Mustang Front end

This is a more eloquent expression of what I was typing. To me this situation is why the adage "just because you can doesn't mean you should" exists. Can you expand on why you are investigating this project? You have a 71-73 Mustang and a 2000 4.6 Mustang donor?

Re built C6 trans constantly shifting 3 to 2 back to 3 under slight load

Some information from what I would consider to be a knowledgable source. I think you may need to play with the vacuum modulator adjustment for your issue.

    Looking for 351 Cooling Improvements.

My experience is the same as Detritus- if the temp stays consistent when the car is moving but creeps up when stopped more than likely there is not enough air moving through the radiator to pull the heat out of the coolant. Find ways to increase air flow at idle: are you running the correct fan...

    Age-Appropriate(?) Radiator Overflow Bottle

Thanks for the details. I'm not a fan of the wire basket thingy. I like basstrix's option because it has a similar look to the washer bottle with the molded flag/ bolt mounting layout.

Want this Tool; Don't need this tool

I totally agree with whoever said "no 12pt wrench is going to break a brake line nut loose." At least not the line nuts that I work on 99% of my time, the 12pt would just round them off...

    Age-Appropriate(?) Radiator Overflow Bottle

Thanks to both of you. That looks like a good option Basstrix! I tried to "hide" my Dursapsark box...

    Age-Appropriate(?) Radiator Overflow Bottle

I would like to add a coolant recovery tank to my car but would like it to look like it was originally installed. I can find a photo of an original accessory overflow bottle but have not seen one come up for sale (pics stolen from megasite): Has anybody come up with something that isn't...

    Mustang 429CJ engine or not

I have also found this to be true- its about impossible to see the trans partial VIN in the car, but its here:

    Mustang 429CJ engine or not

The ultimate proof of engine block provenance is the partial VIN stamp on the rear of the driver's side of the block above the bellhousing flange but below the cylinder head: This is stolen from an Ebay ad, the VIN for this car is 1F05C129430. For the car you are looking at the partial would...

    Mustang 429CJ engine or not

This site is a great resource for the 71 big block cars http://429mustangcougarinfo.50megs.com/ That air cleaner looks to be a small block version, you can tell because the seal is offset forward for the small blocks. As others have said there are a lot of non-CJ parts in that picture, so I...

    QA1 Conversion Trouble

I don't have any experience with the QA1 system but if your springs are going solid (coils contacting each other) then you may need to increase the spring rate to reduce how much the suspension moves.

Slightly better picture of the above block: And another, this one is 0F27

FMX date code can you read it?

Looks like 0K16 to me. Ford *sometimes* added two small dots under 0's in date codes so they weren't mistaken for O's. I can't find a better picture but this is 0 (with the dots underneath) G8:

    1971 Fastback base model

As has been stated above, I also have an agreed value policy on my 429SCJ Mach 1 through State Farm. I did not have to provide any documentation or get an appraisal for this policy, I just provided a description and some photos of the car and the number he came back with was ok with me. I also...

    1972 Q-CODE 4SPEED 351CJ BUILD

That sucks that you are still having pain to that degree. I felt much better after going through the therapy but stopped working out after about 6 mos. and feel like I am regressing and my old problems are coming back. Hopefully you see some improvement at some point.

    1972 Q-CODE 4SPEED 351CJ BUILD

Good to see you back! I have been through the same thing, I opted for disc replacement and had two done last July. My advice is to keep up with physical therapy and whatever exercises they suggest.
