Is there any other Comfortweave supplier out there besides SMS fabrics?

I ordered a plaid cloth from SMS and had it sent to TMI to make my seat covers for my 1971 Mustang Fastback so the covers would look original. When I received the seat covers from TMI they had sewed the cloth 90° from what the factory made. It looks like crap so I will have to file a warranty...

    The hood seems too warped?

I am not sure if this an acceptable approach but I removed the hinges to use 2 heavy hammers to tighten the swivel parts of both hinges instead of buying aftermarket. I haven't had the best luck with foriegn made parts but I did buy 2 new springs as the hood was closing easier on one side as a...

Can I use an NOS 71 Expansion valve with R134a or do I need to replace with a new one?

I have been restoring EVERYTHING on my 1971 351C Fastback including the AC system. I bought a new 134a expansion valve, hoses, and everything else associated with the System. I bought a new larger condenser and sent my original compressor to Texas for rebuild with improved O rings so I would...

Accidentally cut the metal fuel line

I would replace both lines. My lines looked good but I replaced all lines even parking brake cables with Stainless Steel as I do with all of the cars that I restored. I bought my parts through Inline tube. You may have my old ones if you live near Columbus Ohio as I think they are very useable.

Lower cowl patch from underneath, how I did it!

I am glad that you have posted this as I have to do the same for my 1971 351C fastback real soon. Being 76 years old and not agile I am considering turning the car upside down to weld my patch in place.

    Brake Booster Install

I am replacing the nasty looking booster and master cylinder with new Leeds setup in my 1971 fastback and changing from FMX to a top loader 4spd. I was able to score a NOS brake pedal for manual brakes and lowered the pin 2" and welded the old hole to keep strength in the pedal. I then used a...

    1972 Mustang Coupe 302

When I diagnose a suspected cylinder I start the engine for a few seconds then shut the engine off to feel which exhaust port is cold. That will instantly tell which cylinder is not firing. It is an old trick I used to find a dead cylinder on diesel engines.

    Exhaust

I bought a complete set that was coated and mandrel bent so I could get the complete benefit of the dual exhaust system. Since it is a H code it had single exhaust so I went for the Mach1 rear valance and chrome tips. I hope the aftermarket sound is not real loud.

    Door panel manufacturer suggestions

My 1971 Fastback is also vermillion but my door panels look great. It's a shame that I couldn't say the same for all my seats. I was able to purchase the cloth insert by the yard from SMS in Oregon who sent the material to TMI in California to sew it into the vermillion vinyl for duplicating my...

    Door panel manufacturer suggestions

I would contact SMS in Oregon to see if they have that color. A couple of weeks ago they produced the original cloth insert for my 1971 Fastback and sent it to TMI in California to sew the cloth into the vinyl. I figured it would take a longtime for the whole process but it was done in no time...

To 4v your '72 Cleveland or not to 4v, that's the question.

I rebuilt my 351C engine with the flat top pistons in my H code 1971 fastback but I did spring for an Edelbrock 4V manifold and a dual inlet vacuum secondary Holley carburetor. This way I can let the engine determine how much CFM it will take at any given RPM if I choose the right secondary...

    Questions?

The rectangle aluminum block to the left of the heater hoses is the air conditioning expansion valve which should be sealed up until you reconnect the rest of the AC system. When you go cruising in the summer the air conditioning feels great.

Help Finding 1973 Mach 1 Seat Frame

If you live in Central Ohio (Columbus) bring the seat frame over and I will Mig weld it for free. I do favors for many Mustang people so long as they don't dry up the well.

    Dynacron door

I have bought a door and a deck lid and both are junk so I rehabbed OEM parts after many hours and installed them. The deck lid 1968 was so heavy that I couldn't get it to stay open and I had to add 1/4" to the lip that holds the chrome. The door was twisted and missing holes for weather...

    351C 2V Heads Help

I hope that you don't have a dual pump carburetor as the extra fuel can also cause an engine to bog down a street car. Dual pump carburetors are OK for race car but a poor choice for street cars. With a vacuum secondary carb you can tailor when the secondary butterflies open by using different...

    351C 2V Heads Help

I think that either you need a new accelerator pump, adjust the clearance from the pump lever or check the plastic pump cam for correct placement. The point is you are not sending extra fuel when you accelerate which is the purpose of that circuit in all carburetors. With computer control FI we...

I am restoring a 1971 Mustang Fastback front to rear. This includes rebuilt front and rear brakes, 4spd toploader, 9" axle assembly with 3.00 open gears, complete new front and rear suspension, steering gear, new power brake booster/master cylinder, all SS fuel lines, brake lines, parking brake...
