    Dash removal...assistance please? Seats?

You got it, great! I know exactly what you mean by patience (wish I had more) and great to hear nothing got broken! I wish I could have been more helpful but my dashboard and all of its components are at the body shop awaiting a fresh paint job to clean up 51 years of wear. So I couldn’t...

    Dash removal...assistance please? Seats?

You bet...The Center Finish Panel needs to be pulled away from the dash so the heater controls can stay where they are. Can't tell for sure from your picture but it looks like you still have it attached. The heater panel is just "longer" than the opening. It's the same or close to the same...

    Dash removal...assistance please? Seats?

You can leave all your heater control cables, electric fan wires & vacuum lines attached. No reason to disconnect any of it just to remove the center finish panel. Remove the heater control panel (4) four attaching screws so that once your center finish panel is free you can easily angle it...

    ’71 Mach 1 Resto Project

Thanks for this reply Tom! Great information and pictures. Yeah my steering column is the tilt. I thought about splicing but gosh hated the thought of cobbling up a brand new harness. The turn switch listed on the NPD site also had a “review” comment that said a buyer ran into the 5” shorter...

    ’71 Mach 1 Resto Project

Thanks for sharing your journey. It’s amazing what you are doing and like you can’t wait to see it painted & body panels back on. Wanted to ask about your turn signal switch you replaced. The replacement switch harness I have is about 5” shorter than the original so I haven’t pulled the...

    Dash removal...assistance please? Seats?

Plus 1 on the above comments. We have a tutorial on this Forum posted by RocketFoot just in case you didn't see this one that helps with your confidence taking this thing off. I used it the first time I took mine off and was really grateful for this reference...

Bob's 73 Convertible Avocado Interior Project

Today I made a simple open loop system to flush and clean the engine coolant passages in preparation for installing the new Classic Auto Air (CAA) system. I wanted to make the existing system as clean as possible as a starting point. Just one problem, I can't run the engine because of the...

Bob's 73 Convertible Avocado Interior Project

Thanks Steve...Actually, your "73 H Code Convertible Project" thread is one I've followed closely. I did get the same Dye you used, thanks to your post, and plan to follow your vinyl cleaning and painting steps for my Dash Pad, Console Lid and Steering wheel. Until your post, I thought it...

Bob's 73 Convertible Avocado Interior Project

My New Carpet has arrived. I'm a long ways from installing, but it was a fun item to get early to help me visualise the end result. Here's a picture of the original avocado carpet next to this new replacement color carpet. This is Auto Custom Carpet (ACC), but I ordered it through Factory...

Bob's 73 Convertible Avocado Interior Project

Okay, it's been about a month now since I've started this Interior project to fix the worn down interior and several items that were no longer working right. They are listed at the top of this thread. But the biggest reason I decided to bite the bullet and fix these issues, is because my...

    Rear Sway Bar

I just looked at my clearances and took three pictures for you. I think you are right that with your current exhaust pipe configuration you'll run into an interference. My first picture is the drivers side and Ii have about 5" clearance between the exhaust pipe and the flange on the gas tank...

Replacing battery mount area of fender skirt

I screwed up my post once again...Somehow I hit the post key before I was done. I promise, I'll get better at this. Anyway, this set up definitely makes for a beefed up battery tray. If you're going to go ahead and replace the inner fender, I'd for sure get one of these brackets too. And...

Replacing battery mount area of fender skirt

Question: What is this part called? Did '71's have it? Do I need it? I found this to be called "Battery Tray Apron Support". You've got a lot of welds and extra material, so I don't know if it's absolutely necessary. I looks like it's an additional support under the Apron to hold up a heavy...

Replacing battery mount area of fender skirt

Darn it! I screwed this up again. Now I'm on my laptop vs my phone so I know I'll get it right. So sorry again... This was my initial/original condition and the final.

Replacing battery mount area of fender skirt

I know what I did is not for everyone but it was a major for me because I’m not a welder either. This was my first attempt at shaping and welding sheet metal. I know it’s pretty bad but hopefully it’ll work. So here’s several pictures of what I found and how I tried to fix it. There was no...

    Rear Sway Bar

Like the other four guys have said, I totally agree that the 1-1/8" front & 7/8" rear was the single most significant improvement I enjoy on my car, especially going around a corner or interstate clover ramp at 40+ mph. Like stanglover said, it's like on a rail. I don't have all the high...

Parts Wanted Looking For 71-73 Mustang Avocado Green Interior Parts

From what I can see on my 73, the only "light avocado" I/C parts are the four Seat Back Hinge covers. The rest of the interior is clearly the darker (Medium Avocado) color. I just dropped off my interior components to the body shop to paint and gave them the SEM formula from Hemikiller above...

Parts Wanted Looking For 71-73 Mustang Avocado Green Interior Parts

Great information again Hemikiller! I had no idea that this interior color was only available for the 73 year. That explains a lot for all of us Avocado members. Thanks for sharing this formula sheet. I’m taking my dash panel, glove box and end panels to my local body shop this week for a...
