    Shock recommendations

I ran the KYB Gas-A-Just shacks for a while, they are pretty good. I thought they provided a better ride as they "warmed up" while driving - seemed a little soft when starting cold, but improved with use. I now use the Bilstein's from opentracker, and the ride is only a little stiffer, but not...

    Anyone do Classic Auto Air?

Yes, I've installed it and like it. A similar thread here has a lot of feedback: https://7173mustangs.com/threads/classic-auto-air.31707/#post-388706 My only complaint is the controller looks like it belongs in an 80/90s era car. I modified mine to look a little more period correct (Pictures...

    Power loss around 3000 RPM

The problem was the pinched fuel line - I confirmed that a good while back (this thread is about a year and a half old, not sure if you caught that). I did go over my ignition system before I finally figured this out, so definitely appreciate the input.

NEED ALL MEMBERS TO RESPOND PLEASE!

10 year old thread but what the hell.... 1971 Mach 1. Originally a silver 302 base model Mach, built it to be the car I wanted when I was 18 - Black with Silver accents, 351C, aftermarket intake, heads, roller cam and headers - what I call a mild "day 2" build with a little taste.

    Timing

I think mrgmhale's advice gets you off in that direction with a stock engine. My experience has also been that 10-12 degrees initial timing is a good baseline to start with when doing a performance timing curve on a stock motor. Make sure you pay attention to upper timing limits at higher RPMs...

Classic Auto Air vs. Vintage air conversion kit for 1973 Non Air car. Recommendations/experience?

I installed the CAA kit for a non-air car 2 years ago - pretty straightforward and not hard to do. Everything fit as advertised. I'm not a fan of their controller, so I had to modify it to look a little more "period correct".

    Hello from Pa.

Welcome from Ohio, and I agree that's a really nive stable to have. My first Mustang (2nd car) was a 78 Mustang II (black 4-speed fastback with the V6). it was also a fun car, and wish I had that one back. But I like my 71 better....

71-73 mustang Fastback Non Fold down rear seat

Won't swear I got it correct - but my rear quarter panels sit over/on top of the filler panel flange. That seems to provide the most aesthetically pleasing appearance to me.

    Best aftermarket rear spoiler brand?

According to the seller, this is the same wing - I think I first saw this through NPD, and I'm sure they were the first seller, but it appears that later on Kentucky Mustang got the same product. Thinner wing, slightly flat front edge. At any rate, it is a much better repro than the thicker...

    Best aftermarket rear spoiler brand?

I bought the same one that Stanglover referenced, except through Kentucky Mustang. It's far better than previous repops, most of which were way too thick (and heavy). If you cant find an original, that's the one to get. The one in the signature pic below if the older, bad repop. The new one...

    Rodgeydodge - new member

I would add to Timachrome's post that Mach 1s of any of the 71-73 years did not come with the front chrome bumper, although some restorations added one. 71-73 Mach 1s did have a rear chrome bumber.

Winter. Need heat from the heater.

Something else to check - I pulled this from a 32016 Post by Don C: The hose that is connected to the block is the pressure hose and should run to the inlet connection on the heater core, which is the one on the lower left. The hose connected to the water pump is the return line. If the hoses...

    I'm a Leper

Sounds like a good deal, even better nothing significant to deal woith. C3s are really fun cars, and a great platform to build up. I had a 79 that I "restomodded" with some suspension upgrades (tubular Upper/lower CAs, heim-joint strut rods, tower braces, stiffer springs with Bilstien sport...

General Consensus on Replacement 351C Heads

Trick Flow Twisted Wedge heads are good - but as vintageman said, expensive. Any quality aftermarket set of 351C aluminum heads will break the $2000 mark. Choices (as I recall from my build) were Edelbrock, Trick Flow, and CHI - There just aren't that many manufacturers making Cleveland heads. I...

    Shock Absorbers

It's hard to make a solid recommendation since so much of this is subjective and personal preference. A stiff ride for one person may be too harsh for another. Anyway, here goes my experience -  I ran KYB Gas-A-Just shocks for a couple years. They seem pretty smooth, and actually seemed to give...
