    302 swapped to 351W

I pulled out a 302 from a 1972 Mustang and am putting in a 1969 351W. Got the engine swapped out last night. But when I went to put the manifolds on, they did not reach. I simply unbolted the manifolds from the block with them still attached to the rest of the exhaust. I was able to lay them...

    Crank pulley

I am putting a 1969 351W in my 1972 Mustang. I need a crank puley. It is the older style with three mounting holes. I would prefer a three groove pulley for altenator, power steering, and A/C. But a two groove for just the alt and P/S would work for now.

Old "Urban Legends" about vehicles: True or False?

How about this one: Tailgate a tractor trailer and you can get better MPG by drafting them. I believe mythbuster did an experiment on this one as well.

    1971 Mustang Grande restoration.

You know; seeing that green car in that thicket of green, makes me think you were camouflaging it so people like me who drive down back roads looking for old cars sitting in the backyard would not see it and stop?

    1972 mechanical rebuild

Been awhile since I have updated this. Put the 302 currently in the car on CL Friday morning at 10 am, by 11 am I had the motor sold. The guy came by Saturday morning to hear it run and drive. Loved it, it is exactly what he was looking for to put into his 1966 Mustang. He said that by the time...

    1971 Mustang Grande restoration.

#1 thing to do, go get some round up and kill all the undergrowth around the car. #2 get that rear trunk and filler panel cleaned off. I suspect that this area is rotted out from the leaves and pine needles. Heck, just get the water hose and a bucket of soap water and clean the whole car. Do...

    1972 Ford Mustang Convertible

Boss1Ray, I think Don is referring to the side bolster of the driver's seat appears to be collapsed. either the seat has seen a lot of use (thus many miles) or very widetrack driver (if you get my meaning).

    Banjo Bolts

Lesson here is that you never turn in the cores until the job is done! I had to learn this lesson the hard way as well. Hope you do not repeat this mistake?

What "kept you from" what you wanted to do on your 7173 today

Kurt, as I said before, I had a GM motor that looked almost exactly like your Dodge. I pulled the motor. I did not hot tank, but with the engine out and the oil pan off you can scrap, clean, and pour a lot of chemicals inside and out the bottom. The other big thing I did was pull the heads and...

What "kept you from" what you wanted to do on your 7173 today

I will try and dig up pictures of my 1984 Oldsmobile Cutlass I bought with less than 65K on the odometer. I pulled the v6 engine after I took the intake off and saw what you see in your van. I did not rebuild it. I simply cleaned it and replaced the timing chain and gaskets. So far no issue and...

73 Project (i have no idea what I am doing lol)

opethlike, I purchased a 1972 Mustang Coupe that came with three motors. 302, 302, and 351W. I opted for the 302 that looked in the best shape (the other 302 had a broken piston). I like it! Good performance, easy to put into the car, parts were cheap, and plenty of ebay and CL stuff to be...

    Painting Replacement Cowl Panel

I would recommend reading through stevehcode's build thread: http://www.7173mustangs.com/thread-grabber-green-71-mach-1-restomod He has great photos of how he painted and sealed his cowl!

What "kept you from" what you wanted to do on your 7173 today

Hard to believe that there is another person like me that actually forgets to order the parts that I need. I wait for the money, then when I get the money I order or find something that is unrelated to my immediate need. I blame you guys. You all have great stuff for sale and I do need some of...

    1971 Mach 1 CL

I am thinking the seller is trying to angle the rust free desert thing hoping no one really notices the location. Still, even a NC car is better than a Michigan car.

    71 Spring Special

I see this line in a lot of these ads:"Has not been started in a few years, but when it did it ran fine. " What exactly does this mean? If it ran fine a few years ago, why do I need a list of stuff to make it run. Better yet, I could say my lawn tractor ran good a few years ago. Never mind that...
