    Electric AC?

Thanks. Sorry just internet jaded about asking questions only to have people tell me you shouldn't do that when I understand the issue. That's never happened here which is something I've always loved about this site. No matter what dumb thing I've tossed out, people try and help. I've been...

    Electric AC?

Really wasn't looking to get into a debate about efficiency about this. We can quibble over details see electric compressors in some higher end non EV / non hybrids, but regardless, I don't really care about that so again sorry I brought it up. My point in looking at this is more about...

    Electric AC?

Yes, very possible it'll need a beefier alternator although I don't thing anything extravagant from what I've seen. Less parasitic maybe isn't the best way to phrase that. They are more efficient in a number of ways from just the way the power is generated to not relying on engine speed to...

    Electric AC?

Has anyone tried out an electric AC compressor? I've been seeing more and more of these around. Originally they seemed to be aimed at RVs and large trucks but I've keep reading things here and there about them being used for retrofits and hotrods. I like the idea of this as it could keep the...

    I'm enranged

Same, although I read it as "engorged". Either way works for the bride. FWIW - I like it. This forum is has tons of people who are doing everything they can to do factory correct restorations and I absolutely love those cars and really admire what they are doing. Having said that, I respect...

Parts Wanted Wanted "1972 Fastback front windshield A-Pillar plastic Trim"

Thanks, yeah 30" is pretty large for a a regular printer, but still doable. And I hear that, complex shapes can be maddening to get a decent scan. On the texture, I'd look at doing that a couple different ways. First thought is don't bother trying to get a good scan of it, just focus on the...

Parts Wanted Wanted "1972 Fastback front windshield A-Pillar plastic Trim"

I have a couple printers, including one that's a bit larger. This is why I was asking as I've had my eye on this and a few other interior parts for awhile now. Any chance you can get some basic dimensions of it, I'd be curious to see if it'll even fit either of my printers. Yep this is very...

Parts Wanted Wanted "1972 Fastback front windshield A-Pillar plastic Trim"

I'd love to try and get a good scan and see how well these would 3D print, but of course you need a good set to be able to pull that off. It would no doubt be a tough print, but I'd really like to try that out.

Looking for opinions on blackout alternative

I was just writing a response that was almost word for word what Mark says here, then looked up and saw his comment, so I'll just say I agree with all that completely. I currently have my hood wrapped in matte black and will start working my way back on the car this summer. Hopefully it fares...

    Inner fender splash shields

Are there any pics or drawings about where these go or how they're installed? I'm missing I think all of these and have no idea how they are installed. Thanks

71 Mustang Gets Explorer drive train!

If you're looking for that info and can help with a bit of that. I did the swap from a 2000 Explorer Sport Trac which is about the same width but the center is offset. Unfortunately the doc I somehow managed to mangle the doc I had a lot of the details in, but here's a couple things I used. I...

    Reinforcing Bondo

Same here. I've had that stuff covering me head to toe after a few boat repairs and it felt and acted like regular filler dust. For me anyway, no itchiness and was very strong. I've definitely had and hated that issue when cutting or sanding actual fiber glass parts.

    Reinforcing Bondo

Is your bad experience with getting itchy from this stuff from working with fiberglass or fiberglass filler? I've personally never had any issues working with glass filler like glass reinforced bondo where working with actual fiberglass I get it bad. I've always found working with the glass...

    New Toys Bought

Wow those look great. I hadn't seen the center pod gauges before, is that new? And one of my peeves with Dakota Digital had always been that they turn that gas gauge into a clock. Nothing against clocks, I just would rather it stay a gas gauge or something else. I even like the font they use...

    Kill switch system? Your thoughts?

Some nice ideas in here. Not sure if someone mentioned it yet, but having a manual transmission will stop a lot of people. Since my car is fuel injected, I've thought of cutting off one off the tach signal to the EFI. That would let the car turn over, have spark and have fuel pressure, but the...

    Rear end swap

I did that swap as well. From a 2000 Explorer Sport Trac with 4.10s and LSD. It all mostly worked well. Brakes were simple and even the parking brake worked using some adapters. I used these perches https://www.ebay.com/itm/143192608713 The one issue I had and actually still have is the offset...

I just installed yet another set of front seat belts.

Not sure if this is relevant here, but I recently ran into another local '72 owner that installed a simple drop for the shoulder harness and just installed one myself. Basically just using a bolt in seatbelt extender connected up at the roof and then screw this to the top connector on the...

DODGY BAD RUST REPAIRS ON UTUBE

Yes, 100% just talking about cosmetic stuff. Drive around with it looking like a rusty mess or do what you can to make it look a little better and maybe slow down the inevitable if doing a proper repair just isn't an option. There are plenty of places on a car where things can rust out and won't...
