My question is could I swap an 8.8 rear end in my mustang?

I have the ability to get a 8.8 rear end from a 2011ish muatang gt

My mustang doesn't have any drum brakes in the back (they are gone idk why)

I plan on doing a disk brake upgrade in the back

Would it be worth it and how would I set up the leaf springs?

Thank you in advance and sorry if there's another thread about this i couldn't find one.

There’s a couple threads on this but using an 8.8 out of a Ford Explorer. They already come with disc brakes, 3.73 gears, posi and 31 spline axles. I did this swap over 10 years ago and it’s still going strong even with close to 600hp. I will see if I can find the threads and post up later. Pretty easy swap and rim bolt pattern stays same.

Thanks. If I remember correctly my rear end was out of an 05 Eplorer Sport Trac. Heres a couple of link below to do some reading. If you have any other questions let me know.

Tried to find more on your rear end swap. I am using a 99 Ford Explorer rear end into a 71 Mustang, questions is about the fit and your suggestions. This is just a daily driver. Questions link spring perches, Spring width, overall width fit and the clearance between the spring and calipers.
Suggestions helpful as well. Thanks in Advance Sir.

I did that swap as well. From a 2000 Explorer Sport Trac with 4.10s and LSD. It all mostly worked well. Brakes were simple and even the parking brake worked using some adapters. I used these perches https://www.ebay.com/itm/143192608713

The one issue I had and actually still have is the offset diff doesn't clear the tunnel right at the U joint so it hits the floor under acceleration or big bumps. I've dealt with it for now by raising the back a bit with shackles, but I need to go back and beat the floor into compliance so I can get it back to a normal height and not have to think about this anymore. Just haven't gotten to it yet.
