    Intake Cast Number Question

Yup. That's the part of it that makes no sense to me too. I have owned this vehicle since 1980. PO had switched the carb, but not much else. Intake is true to form with correct bore and EGR passage, but, between the hand stamped engineering number, and the date being way off, I agree it may not...

    Check Your Fan Assembly Blades

So I went with the D9AZ-8600. Gave the old fan one last frisbee spin into the dumpster. Placed an order with NOS but they wrote back that there "in stock" quantity was wrong. They had none. But they gave me contact info to Green Sales which had 4. Came in the other day and looks great. Will...

    Intake Cast Number Question

secluff, You were correct. The matching partial VIN was stamped on the toploader flange. Took some doing to see it as tranny is still in the car. Found it in the center of the flange and not on the corner. A little weak and spread out....but it was all there. Thanks

    Check Your Fan Assembly Blades

Had an image in my head of what a total failure looked like. I fell way short.

    Check Your Fan Assembly Blades

Yup...Got the big "pucker" when I saw the blades. Front end is on the bench now to avoid any idea that I might run the engine up. Pulled her our of a deep sleep of almost 15 years so a few more weeks/days not going to hurt anything. I'll take a look at the sites you provided. Thanks for the...

    Check Your Fan Assembly Blades

While waiting for things to arrive (More Parts and More $$$), have been reading a lot of threads here. Great information. I came across this thread https://www.7173mustangs.com/showthread.php?tid=30082 discussing the radiator fan assembly failures and recalls, so, thought I would look mine...

What did you do to your car today?

Think I found the root of this problem. PO had changed original carb to Holley 4150. From what I have read, the fuel inlet moved from passenger side to drivers side? Original fuel line was badly bent and kinked to make it work. After carb/fuel delivery services and fuel filter changes....it just...

    Intake Cast Number Question

Thanks all for the info. Took a look at mustang tek about the intake and tranny. I'll assume that the intake is date correct and could be original to the car. The top loader's tag is RUG-BJ1 as you stated, with what looks like a serial number format. I'lll try to slide under/over with a brush...

What did you do to your car today?

Replaced a bad fuel pump only to watch a 45 year old metal fuel line split. Anyone got a line on a 73Q-4V pump to carb line??

    Intake Cast Number Question

While waiting for stuff (Parts and more $$$$) decided to see what might still be true to the car (73Q-4 Speed). I have 1-3/4 build sheets, buck, and other documents. Scheduled build date was Feb. 22, 1973. Happy to find that valve cover, tranny, and rear end all have tags matching the build...

    Hello from the Pacific Northwest

Sure am. So is my 9 year old granddaughter. She got in and asked the only important question. Looking at the pedals..."Which one makes it go!" Figure I have 7 years to finish.

    Hello from the Pacific Northwest

Hello from Washington State. On Father’s Day this year I cleaned off the large workbench in my garage only to discover it was my 73Q-4 Spd, purchased in 1980, that has been sitting there since 2003. My how time flies. Popped the hood, trunk, and doors and gave her a walk around. What a mess...

What did you do to your car today?

Pushed the 73Q out of the garage. Then I started the long "to do" list.
