    Pulling motor

Mustangs have that longer front that most hoist can't reach far enough. One thing you don't want is to over reach and tip and just dump everything (not good, can't drink enough beer to fix that) Had one that I Modified for just that reason by adding 12in to both lower outriggers and the reach...

Closed chamber heads straight swap from open?

Sometimes after adding up the cost of rebuilding heads say new harden seats and guides/stainless valves and so on, you paid for a new set alloy heads that flow and perform as good and better as factory iron. I seldom get new bolts unless there a reason, last dyno was a year ago was 389.6 hp to...

Closed chamber heads straight swap from open?

If the bolts and threads look good I always reuse. Had gotten positive stops and had trouble installing them. Not sure if they stayed in place and are working. I Would use umbrella next time if there room.....

    Porting the edelbrock 2665

The 2665 was not real popular because of its small runners. Made for quick off the line feel which is why the small runners but power faded real fast as rpm's went to 4 grand and about fell flat on its face after that. Took mine back off and again used 4v cast iron till I found a Blue Thunder...

    Porterfield brakes

I'm sure others will not agree, but my experience is the cheap brake shoes work the best. They just don't last as long. Never heard of Porterfield........

    71 Mach 1 option ?

I might be wrong but standard cooling got 4 blade no clutch fan. Hd. battery was the bigger 27F battery over standard 24F

What are these brackets used for?

That a good question. Always there unless someone or something removed them. I'm sure ford had a good reason for them...

Yukon Locker ford 9 28 spline

Have the same 28 spline unit for about 5 years now with no issues. I do remember needing to grinding a little off inside the case to get some more clearance because the ring gear mounting flange is thicker. No big problem

    HF bits for port matching?

I would stay away from the rasps. The carbide burrs are aggressive enough......

Valley Pan To Use or Not to Use that is the question

The pan keeps the underside of the intake cooler which helps a little in a hot climate. And with out it the oil that splashes up could burn fast to where exhaust crossover (if used) is. You must always use a new turkey pan to get it seal right if that what you going to do. Some folks use both, I...

    competition plus shifter

The aftermarket Hurst favors the driver side a bit more, but did fit the 72 tunnel shifter hole ok. Yes the aftermarket stick not removable. I had to cut and bend and weld some to fit in the full console better. All that was done down below the boot so not to be seen. I had later found a real...

    Firewall & Drive Train Paint

You don't want the wrinkle paint. What you see there is sprayed on undercoating and then painted over. That's the way it came from the factory. Most undercoatings are paintable, and satin black paint would be my way to go.

351C Hood Clearance w/ Factory Breather & Edelbrock AirGap

I installed a Blue Thunder intake which is 1in taller than 4V cast intake on ram air, and yes it was too tall. I had to modify things to make it fit. The ram air hood without the plenum has more than an inch of room above the air cleaner so it might fit. Just don't slam the hood shut till you...

    Honeycomb Panel Below Windshield

If not broken, I would try turning them over on a flat surface and heating them a little with a hairdryer and placing something flat between the tabs till cool. Whatever you do, don't put them in the microwave....that doesn't work....

    Sydney, Melbourne and Auckland

How about that. The wife and I are leaving for Melbourne January 3rd. We know some folks that live around there and they talked us into coming down to see a car show at Hanging Rock. Wife has list of thing she like to see and do, so I have been practicing driving on the wrong side of the road...

    Cooper Cobra or BFgoodrich ?

I always like and used BFG TAs because of there retro look on both our 67 and 72 for yrs now, and I do know first hand about the danger of running tires that are older than 5 yrs. One the tread let loose and rip the driver side frt fender off the 72 in Nebraska and now this summer 5 yrs later...

Engine rebuild after broken timing chain

I'm sure the valves came in contact with the pistons when the chain broke, so pulling the heads would be on my list of things to do. Rebuilding the heads gets costly if there a lot of damage, so keep that in mind. Mixing and matching valve train parts is going to need the right length push rods...
