New seat covers with Comfortweave have arrived!

Must admit to being caught a little off-guard; when I placed the order, the ETA was 4-6 weeks. Seems they arrived in more like 4-6 *days*! Woo-hoo! So now I need to get ahold of my upholstery guy, order the seat trim (2 per seating position) and I think I'll have him put in seat heaters...

    Tach quit; most likely suspect?

Thanks y'all -- I'll try giving the dash a good smack, which is hilarious because that's what I have to do for my '95 Lexus LS400 for *both* the tach and speedo regularly. It was much warmer two weeks ago when I last drove it and we now have nice and cool evenings, so fingers crossed this is...

    Tach quit; most likely suspect?

Tach has been working fine since I got the car 3 years ago. Literally nothing happened in between the last time it ran with the tach working and now besides it sat quietly in the driveway. Sun went up and sun went down 12 or so times. Wind blew. Nada. Starts and runs fine -- just no...

Exciting development: new upholstery with *real* Comfortweave

When I first contacted Kim at SMS he sent me a Comfortweave sample sheet with samples of all the standard colors. I only needed the black so I placed my order stat. And then it arrived 2+ years later after a dozen or so "When is it coming?" emails. I've only dealt with them by email so you...

Exciting development: new upholstery with *real* Comfortweave

Hey, I was just passing on the information I got from others here about SMS purchasing the machines. I don't really care if they didn't buy the machines -- someone is finding or producing new ComfortWeave and Kim at SMS Fabrics sold me four yards back in 2020. Which arrived recently.

Exciting development: new upholstery with *real* Comfortweave

Try to actually find these products; as best I can tell the entries listed are just place holders. In any case, TMI has a long held reputation for the end product and I was more comfortable working with them.

Exciting development: new upholstery with *real* Comfortweave

Can't say I know for sure, but my understanding is the woven/knitted vinyl known as ComfortWeave was dropped at the end of 1973. Ford decommissioned the weaving machines which then sat idle (?) until SMS began their restoration on the machines nearly 40 years after they were last used. Imagine...

Exciting development: new upholstery with *real* Comfortweave

I had ordered woven Comfortweave from SMS pre-pandemic and it arrived 6 mos or so ago. Finally got in touch with TMI and they'll be more than happy to use my Comfortweave in new upholstery for my '73 'vert. 4-6 weeks of production time *after* I send them my Comfortweave. They do make a full...

    Speedometer cable confusion

Thanks -- I didn't question the differences because only one cable came up in my search. Moral of the story: don't order things past a certain point of tiredness.

    Speedometer cable confusion

'73 351C 4V w C6. Speedometer started bouncing and a part of the old cable where it snaps into the back of the gauge is broken, so I decided to replace. Usual source (NPD) was out so went with CJ Pony. Only one choice on CJPony, so that's the one I picked but now that it's arrived, I'm not so...

    Clock quartz conversion

Would you like another for your test? It's not working now so you couldn't really break it. I'm approaching time to reinstall the console. Since I haven't seen any acceptable current alternatives, I was thinking just to reinstall and leave nonfunctional.

    what is a good upholstry?

Actually, SMS Fabrics is making Comfortweave again -- I had to wait 12+ months but now have several yards in black just waiting to be used. I'm going to contact TMI about using real Comfortweave in standard vinyl seat covers (the vinyl for the sides/bolsters/etc is the same for deluxe and...

    4300D carb and fuel filter

A non-Mustang person recommends a Holley 650 replacement, which I think would necessitate a new intake, too. In any case, opinions from the Mustang people?

    4300D carb and fuel filter

I knew exactly what you were talking about because I had accidentally ordered the 1/4" a long time ago. Fuel filter for the 2100 on the left, for the 4300D on the right. Clearly a different beast but thanks for the writeup!

    4300D carb and fuel filter

That's what I think, too. It's the carb -- what can be done short of carb replacement? (eek)

    4300D carb and fuel filter

'73 351C-4V. After sitting awhile, roughly 6-8 weeks, I had the whole air filter out of the car while starting and noticed a new fuel leak from the top of the fuel filter where it screws into the carb. After a long period of non-op, it was a surprise that it was leaking. I tried wrench...

Allegedly 1 of 1 PW window 73 Convertible

Here‘s the stats report from my ‘73 vert in yellow w p/w. As noted above, Marti reports sort to emphasize rarity, but it doesn’t mean only one yellow convertible w power windows exists. But congrats on a great looking car!

Vacuum/distributor part on eBay and I can't figure out where it would go

Although my 351-C 4V Q code is listed, I do not recognize the part. Seems most likely to be the multiport vacuum valve that adjusts timing for engine temperature, but that valve doesn't have electrical connections. And I don't see a part number. Any thoughts...

    Auto-Know-Better....1300hp and a Sticky Throttle...on the street.

They weren't going that fast but wow, those cameras really showed what even a medium-low-speed collision can do without the three point belts. Having a 'vert, I'm seriously considering finding a way to make them work. Also, I like my teeth and want to keep them.
