    Shifter Boot

Sorry guys, I wasn’t clear on my description. The car is a 1972 Coupe, but has a T-5 transmission installed. As such it has a rectangular Hurst shifter handle. I appreciate all the replies and ideas. It seems relatively straight forward. My only concern is the shifter exits towards the front of...

    Shifter Boot

I am getting into the smaller details and I am trying to come up with an accordian style rubber boot that fits into the 71-73 full console. The shifter handle is a hurst and there is a rubber accordion style available for the 1970. Does anyone have any idea if this would work or work with minor...

    Those with a T5 5-speed...

This is a link to my trials with the T-5. I wouldn’t suggest the one from MDL. https://7173mustangs.com/threads/t5-shifter.42520/

    Carb problem frustration level 10/10

Sorry for not replying sooner. I have been in Guam for over a month. so I was able to mess with the car today finally. Installed a new pertronix unit in place of the points. Everything is solved now. I can’t explain it, but it cleaned up everything. Runs smooth, fuel is not soaking the gasket...

    Carb problem frustration level 10/10

I wouldn’t think so it’s a rubber diaphragm. It could only get weaker or fail completely.

    Replacement carb options

The first carb I tried was the holley 1850 and as you mentioned I would have to clearance the air cleaner to clear the fuel inlet. I imagine there is not a direct fit carb apart from the autolite series. I was hoping someone out there has installed a new 4bbl carb intake on their 302 and...

    Replacement carb options

For those who have been following my autolite 4100 saga I have decided to go another route. It is really important to me to be able to retain the stock 302 air cleaner. Does anyone know of a new carb that will allow this? I don’t mind modifying the air cleaner slightly to make it work. Ron

    Carb problem frustration level 10/10

Thanks for the reply, I think you may have missed a post or two. The one thing I didn’t bring up that you mentioned was the fuel filter. Running two inline filters. One at the carb and one before the pump. Both new and both clear. I didn’t do a running pressure as the carb no longer floods...

    Carb problem frustration level 10/10

I spoke too soon. now I am having the opposite problem. Not enough fuel from the idle circuit. I went through the carb 3 times today and it just won’t idle. All air bleeds are clear. There is no reason this carb shouldn’t be working. I even had a friend stop by today and he couldn’t get it...

    Carb problem frustration level 10/10

Update on the problem. It was indeed the fuel pump. I installed the old original last night and it ran. Poorly, but no more flooding. Debating on returning the new pump, but highly doubtful that I won’t have the same problem. There isn’t much room to run a regulator between all the steel hard line.

    Carb problem frustration level 10/10

Ok, back home, pressure gauge showed right at 7PSI. Now I know it was said previously that 7 PSI is marginal and anything over 7.5 needs to be regulated. The test setup was pressure gauge attached right at the steel fuel line before the carb inlet. I only used the starter to crank the engine as...

    Carb problem frustration level 10/10

So, quick update, I lowered the floats to .491 dry and .880 wet or roughly therabouts. I also completely disassembled soaked and then blew out every passage possible. I also ran bread tie wire through all holes accessible then reassembled. installed on car, started ran for 10-15 seconds somewhat...

    Carb problem frustration level 10/10

Floats are working well. No leaks or fuel inside. My carb is C4SE-B supposedly off of a 64 Tbird. It is 1.12, but Installed the brass 1.08 restrictors

    Carb problem frustration level 10/10

I didn’t explain very well. This isn’t a dirty carb issue or a non rebuild issue. I was being serious that I have pulled and disassembled roughly 10 times. I thought for sure I found the smoking gun when I realized venturi’s were swapped. My float levels are correct and have been triple checked...

    Carb problem frustration level 10/10

I dipped/ cleaned and installed a kit before I even put it on the car. The swapped Venturi’s are because I put it back together the same way I took it apart. I am really good at reassembling from memory, but not so good at paying attention If it was correct in the first place. I do have a buddy...

    Carb problem frustration level 10/10

I hope I can encapsulate everything that is going on. (Autolite 4100) First start of the car and it ran and idled. Then it revved up and kept running then started shaking then shut down. Hard to restart, but when it does it does the same thing. Super rich Removed carb, found that primary and...

    Electrinic Ignition options

My distributor is a Motorcraft. Looks to be a later replacement as it has only one port on the vacuum diaphragm. As an aside I went ahead and installed points in it. It fired right up.

    Electrinic Ignition options

    Electrinic Ignition options

I finally was able to start the Mustang today for the first time in 23 yrs. The elation was short lived as I lost spark after about 20 seconds of running. I traced the problem to the mallory Unilite module. What I am wanting to know is if there is a better module available such as pertronics...
