    Winter project

We will have to see how far I go.  Since it’s out I’m going to fully detail the engine and probably engine compartment too.

    Winter project

Ive decided on a full tear down and then decide from there.  I’d rather do it right and not worry about it for another 50 years if possible

    Winter project

Well it looks like I’ve decided to freshen up my engine over the winter as it was pretty much leaking from every gasket.  52 years old but only 50k on it.  Let’s see how it turns out,

    Complete wiring harness

Midlife seems to recommend replacing the engine compartment harness so I don’t think they are an option.  I’m having a very tough time finding anywhere that has a 71 harness with sport lamps and tach.  Seems they are all out of stock.

    My C-Code 1971 Mach 1

Actually the C and J codes use the same carb but when you order an SCJ you get a Holley instead of a Q-Jet.

    Over the Hood (Bonnet) Pictures

Went out for a morning drive as it’s getting colder and the opportunities to drive are becoming fewer and fewer.  Will be time to put the car away for the winter which will give me time to complete a few projects on it.

    UPDATE: My ‘71 J Code Convertible…

I tried to get Cliff to rebuild my carb but he said his wait list was over a year long.  I finally gave up and installed a Holley sniper system.  No more anxiety on whether my car is going to stall and not restart, run rough or anything else.     glad to hear you finally got it running and I...

New player in A pillar repro?

Are you planning on using them on a white interior and if so how close is the color or do you think you’ll need to paint them?

    My C-Code 1971 Mach 1

    Tilt steering column installation

I thought that might be it and I removed the bolt completely.  No difference.  For those that have installed a steering column does it usually just slide right in or is some force required?

    Tilt steering column installation

My problem seems to be that I can’t completely seat the steering column as I can’t bolt the support brace to the bulkhead.

    Tilt steering column installation

So I’ve removed my 1971 tilt column to replace my worn rag joint and I can’t re-install the column for the life of me.  I ended up installing the joint on the steering gear and I believe I’ve inserted the end of the column shaft into the rag joint but I can’t get it in the last inch or so.  I’m...

Need help installing my steering column

It is a stock part.  I first tried installing it on the steering gear while the coupler was installed on the end of the steering column but I couldn't get the angle right. I decided to install the coupler on the steering gear first and then try installing the  steering column on the coupler...
