Love that “while you’re there” phrase, It’s been my MO since I purchased the Mustang and I’m getting a bit tired of it. I’ve been spending more time replacing things and less time driving it.

Some help here guys please. I’m replacing my water pump and now that I have it off, is it necessary to replace the timing chain cover plate? I’m not a mechanic, I have been learning on the fly since I bought the Mustang. Please see attached picture and let me know your thoughts. Thank you!

Is there any value in keeping the original upper and lower control arms off a 1973 Mustang? I recently replaced them along with the the rest of the front suspension. I planned on just scrapping them, but thought I would check with you guys first. Thanks. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Got it.... I believe down the road, I’ll replace the intake along with the carb like most do. For now it’s running pretty good, so I’ll stick with the 4300D. Thanks for your input, it was very helpful! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Thanks for the info Tim. I wonder if I could eliminate the EGR plate to gain the thickness of the adapter plate? I’m not sure if that’s even feasible. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

By using the adapter and new carb, did it change the overall height much? I have a 73 Q code as well, along with Ram Air. My 4300D is working pretty good now....but I had it apart way too many times, to bend the float bracket, so it wouldn’t hang up in the bowl. I’m always leery of it flooding...

Thanks guys for responding. I haven’t removed the distributor yet. I don’t have anyone to help me crank the engine unfortunately, but the rotor is pointing to the number one spark plug wire on the distributor cap, also I checked with a straw and the piston seams to be in the highest position...

Can anyone tell me if this is TDC? It’s very hard for me to see and I’m new to working on engines. I am installing a new distributor on my 1973 351C. Any help would be appreciated.
