    York compressor oil level check

Thanks for the reply and assurance that I won’t lose my full charge. I am a little confused about the steps as when the oil plug/bolt is removed it will immediately purge the pump. Your steps say to purge after checking the oil level. I don’t see how that is possible unless I didn’t comprehend...

Hello all, I finally got around to charging the AC on my sons 72 mustang. All went well initially, but after I shut it down and let it sit for an hr the compressor is making a grumbling sound. I added oil initially before charging the system and it was at a level of 1” After charging it was...

    C4 to manual swap

Just a bit of a follow up. My son and I are finally driving this car. 1-4th gear it does ok, but 5th is a straight dog. Anything under 70mph and It is gutless. I installed a 3:40 which I assume is out of a MustangII it was $50 so I figured why not. It certainly did’t help much. so now I am at a...

    Not charging, need wiring verication

Ok with taking everyones suggestions, verifying and Ohming wiring, replacing alternator( it was bad out of the box) replacing regulator I still don’t have a charge. Now, one thing that I am thinking is the ignition switch is out of a ‘73. There are 2 different part numbers for 71/72 and 73...

    Not charging, need wiring verication

I already mentioned they were wrong in the photo…. the “somebody” was me because I was trying to match the factory diagram. Like I said, in the wrong configuration (as shown) it charges. If I do it the correct way it does not charge. Rest assured it’s correct now. If you are wondering what...

    Not charging, need wiring verication

Thanks for the reply and troubleshooting suggestion, good idea. I am attaching a picture of the way my C4 is currently wired. Alternator is new and as of yesterday a new regulator is installed. The photo shows my green red and yellow they way they were when charging and they are now swapped.

    Not charging, need wiring verication

So, things are not as well as hoped. I am still having charging issues. If I run my wiring as layed out in the factory schematic found here it charges however, it also drains the battery overnight. the confusion is related to the yellow white and the green red on Connector C4 to the regulator. I...

    Not charging, need wiring verication

Hello all, My son and I are finally driving the 72 Coupe! Everything seems to be working well apart from my charging. Shifter Boot

Sorry guys, I wasn’t clear on my description. The car is a 1972 Coupe, but has a T-5 transmission installed. As such it has a rectangular Hurst shifter handle. I appreciate all the replies and ideas. It seems relatively straight forward. My only concern is the shifter exits towards the front of...

    Shifter Boot

I am getting into the smaller details and I am trying to come up with an accordian style rubber boot that fits into the 71-73 full console. The shifter handle is a hurst and there is a rubber accordion style available for the 1970. Does anyone have any idea if this would work or work with minor...

    Carb problem frustration level 10/10

Sorry for not replying sooner. I have been in Guam for over a month. so I was able to mess with the car today finally. Installed a new pertronix unit in place of the points. Everything is solved now. I can’t explain it, but it cleaned up everything. Runs smooth, fuel is not soaking the gasket...

    Carb problem frustration level 10/10

I wouldn’t think so it’s a rubber diaphragm. It could only get weaker or fail completely.
