    71 Mach1(Trans Am) 2" nose drop

I used 3/16 for the side plates welded to the chassis and for the end plates of the crossmember. I see no reseaon 1/8 wouldn't work. I just wanted a bit of over kill since a bit thicker would resist distorting as much given all the weld in a small area. I also put it together using 1/4 holes and...

    71 Mach1(Trans Am) 2" nose drop

Thank you. Topes car has a removeable one. It was highly recommended that I make mine removable by a few people who have road race Mustangs.

    71 Mach1(Trans Am) 2" nose drop

Hi everyone, yes its been a minute or two. So here is where we are. I cut out the stock engine crossmember and built a removeable one. It's 1 1/2x 2 1/2,1/8 tube. The ends are cut at angles so it self centers itself and can't get stuck going in or coming out. It will make servicing the engine...

    71 Mach1(Trans Am) 2" nose drop

No dry breaks until 1973 in Trans Am and at that time they changed a lot of the rules. 1970 and 71 had to use a stock diameter fill tube with stock style cap. The teams could put the fill pretty much where ever they wanted, but quite a few where in the center, some even had a fill on both sides...

    71 Mach1(Trans Am) 2" nose drop

Yep,lots of work, but worth it. Yes the trunk lid opens just like it should. The tunnel for the fill neck is cut out on the bottom to allow the filler through the bottom of the lid......

    71 Mach1(Trans Am) 2" nose drop

Me again, another update. The battery box and the mount its in is also from the Robbins Boss 302,but I did modify the mount to make it fit behind the wheel well,it's recessed into the floor so I could get enough height to install and remove a group 27 battery. The fuel filler neck and mount I...

    71 Mach1(Trans Am) 2" nose drop

Happy New Year everyone. Nothing like redesigning a quarter of the car to install a vintage Trans Am dry sump tank. The tank sits in the passenger torque box and then the fill goes through the fire wall into the engine compartment. So I cut apart the box, cowl and firewall until it fit(this was...

    71 Mach1(Trans Am) 2" nose drop

Once again it's time for an update. This installment of"Lets make some Ford engineers cry" is the fuel cell. There was nothing off the shelf from any cell manufactures that I liked and if I did,it wouldn't fit.So I had a custom fuel cell made using the Kar Kraft blueprints as a guide. I could...

    71 Mach1(Trans Am) 2" nose drop

Hi. No I haven't scaled it as of this time. There is no cage or fuel cell in it yet. That's this winters projects. The tank ,while large isn't that heavy. Penske mounted their dry sump tanks in the Javelins, either behind the passenger shock tower or frenched into the passenger side firewall in...

    71 Mach1(Trans Am) 2" nose drop

Hi everyone, update time. So I made aluminum ducting for the radiator.........consisting of a panel from the front valance to the lower radiator support, two side panels and a top cover Most of the ideas are from what was done on the team Trans Am cars and some of the independent racers. My own...

    71 Mach1(Trans Am) 2" nose drop

This isn't a street car. Not saying I won't drive it around the countryside where I live to test it,but it gets trailered to and from the track. The front spoilers on TA cars are considered a wear item. They get bent and ground down.

    71 Mach1(Trans Am) 2" nose drop

Hi everyone. The front spoiler is finished. I used 1/8'',5052 aluminum for the spoiler and all the brackets accept for the frame brackets for the struts. The struts are 3/8'' rod ends with aluminum adjuster sleeves. I just didn't think the stock plastic spoiler looked right or suited my taste...

    71 Mach1(Trans Am) 2" nose drop

Hi,nothing too earth shattering ,but things i wanted to do. I filled in the side marker lights and then had to think long and hard about if I wanted to completely remove the stamping for the fuel filler in the tail light panel. I looked at every factory backed TA car and found the majority had...

    71 Mach1(Trans Am) 2" nose drop

Hi everyone.Slow but steady progress. Sitting on top of the mock up engine is a Bud Moore Mini Plenum, the intake that was used in 70 and 71 on the factory TA Mustangs and when Moore ran with no Ford support. Had Ford build the 71 Mustangs for TA,this is the intake that they would have had. So...

    71 Mach1(Trans Am) 2" nose drop

Soooooo.........here's some of the fun that I've been having.........fixing doors. Long story short, each door is now 21.2 pounds lighter. I removed the crashbars, the front and rear of the inside of the door leaving the mounting holes for a door panel and I left the center to hold the interior...
