1973 Q-Code/Auto Coupe in triple white (somebody installed some black upholstery, but it should be white).
UPDATE 12/17/24::
-Adding pics of:
-Interior, photocopy of original title from 1973, original dealer sales/installment contract, and original factory invoice..
-The driver's door was replaced sometime in the distant past due to damage, and since the door data sticker is not removable without damage, the DMV installed a tag on the door jamb with the VIN. Marti Auto can make reproduction door data stickers.
-Also found the original owners manual, and I think some other 1973 literature that probably came with the car.
-I pulled the radiator today, and was able to turn the engine back and forth with a wrench on the crank. I didn't want to move it too much since it hasn't been run in 20+ years. Just wanted to ensure it was free. I don't believe it's necessary to make it run. It's a 52 year old engine that's been sitting for 20. It deserves at least a basic rebuild if one restores the car. There is clean looking oil on the dipstick. Other than hoses, wires, and belts, (maybe the alternator), the engine looks 100% original.
-Both doors open and close very smoothly, and don't appear to sag. The driver's door is rusty on the bottom. Passenger door has some rust, but not nearly as bad.
-There are bubbles under the vinyl top. It would be safe to assume it will need repair on the roof pan.
- Repairs needed on the cowl area.
-The aluminum rims are in good shape. Use some elbow grease and these rims will polish up nice.. Might need some wet sanding, and a tub of Mothers Polish.
-Now also listed on Craigslist.
-I don't want to part this car out because it is a unique example, but if it doesn't sell, I will pull the 351CJ engine because it would be perfect for my 69!
Being offered here on this forum before anywhere else.
Has been sitting 20+ years.
PS/PB/AC/Power Windows/Original factory aluminum rims/front spoiler.
Pretty complete and original. Always a Virginia car. Has some rust in typical areas- not horrible if you're not afraid of doing some metal work. Next week I will get a better evaluation.. The hood is toast.
Extra set of 73 fenders.
NOS Wheel centers, and some other misc. parts.
1973 Ford service manuals.
Next week I will have some time to get a better list of spare parts, and I'm going to see if I can turn the engine by hand. I don't really want to run it, since I know the brakes are inop. Inside the master cylinder reservoir is dry and ugly rust. I will also get some more pics next week for serious buyers.
I was going to get the Elite Marti report, but I'll leave that to the next owner. Most of us on this forum understand this is a rare pony , with I think, a little over 500 Q-Code Hardtops built for 73... And with the triple white color scheme (factory lower body blackout with chrome trim strip), AC, and power windows, I would risk a guess there were less than a handful so equipped. This car is so original- it has serious potential for a gorgeous concours restoration.
I already have 3 other Q-Code cars, including a 72 Q-Code Grande, so sadly, I just don't have time to work on yet another one.
Located in Forest, Virginia, just west of Lynchburg.
$6,500 Cash -or- $5,500 Cash + A complete, unmolested original 69-71 429 Thunderjet motor!
Tom- text me "73 Q-code, 7173 Forum" and I'll call you ASAP.
