Any target shooters out there?

Saw these new targets online they looked awesome so i ordered 2   they are quite awesome! Comparable to newbolds self healing targets but change color when u hit them.  https://www.doubleactiontargets.com.  just thought id share!

Very nice, makes me wish I had more land and lived in a more rural area so that I could set some up. As it is now, I have to go to an outdoor shooting range that limits are at 200 meters or use a range on the military post that has up to 800 meters for target shooting. The 200 meter range is open every day till dark but the 800 meter range is not open as often. Last year, I was making it to the range at least 2 times a week for most of the year, kinda slacked off in the last few months. It is the cheapest therapy out there, I really need to get back out there. Thanks for the link.

I shoot but not much lately. I pulled out rifle this year had not shot it in 11 years and took two deer one shot each, .300 WSM.

When I go to Africa I am allowed to work as a P.H. on a hunting ranch in South Africa. Since the owner is a licensed P.H. I work off his license.

They to ink I shoot pretty good but compared to some of the guys here I am not, lol.

I took a .25 WSSM to shoot monkeys and baboons with last trip and stayed over 4 months. It is free as long as I work as a P.H.. I also too a .17 for just the monkeys. First year they had fruit at the ranch in years I kept them away. And a .50 cal. muzzle loader.

They had a shooting contest at the ranch that has I think 10 or 12 benches in concrete. There were probably 50 shooters. They wanted me to enter but I did not. If I had could have won easily. Nobody was making head shots for the extra points.

If you love to shoot you need to go to Africa much less cost than in the U.S. for sure and many more different animals.

My friend that does auto restorations loves to shoot. They set up a range to 1,000 yards. His dad had tool & die shop and I was a tool maker for years. I came up with way to mount the scopes that they just stay put and never move. He has the fancy one that you just dial the yardage and aim dead on. He took out a baseball at 500 yards one day first shot. A dime usually will cover his group at 100 yards shooting factory ammo. .300 Win. Mag. He has tried hand loads but cannot do as good. Forget the brand. Think it is the one with solid brass bullets no lead.

The times I see variation is for the elevation thinner air shoots higher.

One of the guys I use to shoot with has two perfect scores in NRA competition and he says he is not good.

Several of the guys shoot the .300 ultra mag with carbon fiber barrel. Crazy money but he did kill a 6 X 6 elk at over 900 yards this year one shot. He is also the sniper for the local sheriff dept..

At the range they use a battery powered air mattress pump to blow air down the barrel. The carbon fiber does not like to cool off that fast.

I would like to see someone make a steel with a ceramic barrel liner. That would zip a bullet and never burn out either.

One of the P.H. in Africa I work with had gone through 5 barrels on a 30.06 with just factory loads. But consider he has been a professional for nearly 50 years and has shot thousands of animals. The government use to pay them to just go kill them to get rid of them so the farmers could grow something.

I used to shoot long range metallic silhouette pistol competition. Ranges from 50 to 200 meters with steel silhouettes targets of chickens, pigs, turkeys, and rams. Shot mostly custom large-bore single shot pistols from 30.30 to .308 caliber. Used to shoot maybe 300-400 rounds per week until my wrist and elbow complained about the recoil. Dear hunted with a handgun for about 35 yrs with my favorites being either a .375 Winchester or a 45-70. Old school T/C Contenders. Harvested a bunch of deer.
