Since it's snowing out ..I was surfing around checking out some of the recent prices paid for muscle cars & decided to take a look at the barret-jacksen site. http://www.barrett-jackson.com/ Lot's of stuff going with no reserve CHEAP.. The market is plain flooded ! I thought maybe I would go check out one of their auctions just for the heck of it. I couldn't believe that they charge you $500.00 to register & then 10-12% buyers premium on top of your winning bid if you buy something.. Say WHAT ? Thats in addition to the 8-10% they charge the seller to sell. What a bunch of thieves /whores..Guess there's still plenty of zipperheads out there with deep pockets & money to burn. I can understand charging the seller but the buyer too ? & 500.00 to just be in the auction ? Got me thinking that if someone came out with an auction where they only charged the seller they could rack up ! What are your thoughts ?

...sounds like "Ebay" to me:).

Seriously, if someone could develop such a thing with a lot of "prestige" behind them, it could probably go over very well, indeed!

One problem would be getting that prestige (read that CAPITAL) for start-up, in my opinion.

Barret is sketchy too me...I seen 2 of the same 69 dogde chargers go across the same day.....One was white and one green repainted...The white one was original paint and interior ...matching motor at about... 98% condish overall orginal from 1969 with 383 4 barrel.......Beauty...Green one..Nice car...But not original paint...Nor matching motor... bidding lasted way longer on the green one then the white one that came ascross after it...it sold for allmost 10,000 more than the white one....{shakes head} i dont know what they seen..But the white one...was way more valueable in my eyes..wasnt long after that i heard about them being sued over doing that and picking out the best cars....while over selling just regular rebuilds you can get in any town... stealing the hard to find originals.

charge the buyer too? Wow no matter how you paint it...They win...just like paypal/ebay...lol

At least fee-bay dosn't charge the buyer..It's amazing how Barret wraps/packages their raping of the buyer by putting the " philanthropy" spin into the mix.
