My Car
1973 Mach 1 Q Code
Just recently picked up a 73 Q Code that my wife found me.

Took it to the shop to have the front end aligned and the tech decided to check all the fluids and what not... The other night I pop the hood and the transmission dipstick is missing. Called the shop up and they cannot find it but are willing to reimburse the replacement.

I am finding PLENTY of dipsticks for C4s but none for the C6.

Not to date myself but I had a Mach 1 when I was in college and to get parts I drove down to the store and picked them up. Now all I hear is "Gotta order it.. be here in a couple days" lol

There is a ford racing Dip stick for the C6 and to be honest it is terrible, its a chromed piece of junk.

there are also other made in china chromed dip sticks and they are terrible some don't even have the fill marks correctly placed.

I would recommend starting a WTB thread or contact Don at OHIOmustang and see if somebody had an original dip stick.

now the original Dip stick might be rusty,, I got a a junky C6 original dip stick that was rusty and i soaked it in rust away, i then cleaned and oiled it, wiped excess off with ATF fluid. it came out awesome for a 40 year old original part, and the rubber seal was still perfect on it.

you can just get a replacement chromed stick and be happy but i was not. as i mentioned, they sometimes have the fill marks in the wrong place and some of them the chrome is so bad it flakes off the handle and some coated the dip stick itself and the chrome can peel off inside the trans.
